Affordable & Eclectic Nursery Tour

Last week Meredith from Welcome to Heardmont shared her adorable nursery tour.
I immediately fell in love and knew I wanted to share it with you.
This nursery is a labor of love filled with DIY projects and personal touches.
Gold dots, black trim, white walls, and shimmery curtains…I am smitten.
Little Libby is a lucky girl.
Meredith’s creativity is so inspiring.
I just can’t get enough of this little gallery wall. Notice her DIY dotted art? It looks awesome in the shiny gold frame.
I really loved how her mood board came to life.
Head on over to Welcome to Heardmont to get all the DIY details.
Isn’t it adorable?

A Thrifty DIY Chandelier…

Yesterday I came across this post regarding a few awesome sales on light fixtures at World Market.
Unfortunately we missed the sale of this Large Wood Bead Chandelier but it got me thinking.
Doesn’t this chandelier resemble the Turquoise Drape Chandelier from Horchow?
I mean, all it is missing is a little color and a few beads right? Not only do they look similar, they are almost the exact same size.
Jenny from LGN is known to use nail polish to transform lighting fixtures, you can see one here.
Makes me wonder…a combo of spray paint and nail polish might make this DIY pretty simple and quite inexpensive.

What do you think?
Is this something you would tackle? I want it so bad.
Or I could just splurge on the ever so popular Hedy Chandelier for $4,500.00…ya right.

Thrifty Tuesday: A Few Favorites

We are all familiar with the popular Chiang Mai Dragon fabric by Schumacher. At a whopping $157.00/yard it isn’t exactly affordable. Dwell Studio now has a look-a-like fabric called Ming Dragon. You can purchase it here for $24.99/yard.
It comes in several color ways. I also quite like the aqua version.
It isn’t easy to find large aft pieces that don’t break the bank.
I was recently introduced to Caroline Wright’s work and fell in love.
You can purchase a 30″x40″ canvas print for $295.00. It may not be an original, but it
is a great way to get a large piece of art for an affordable price.
You can also purchase paper prints and original pieces of her work here.
I love unique mirrors and I can’t get enough of this white rectangular mirror from Ballard Designs.
I think it packs a big statement for only $199.00. I can also think of a million places to put it, such a practical piece.
I am sure you have seen these baskets already, but I just love them.
You can snag yourself any of these baskets below for under $25.00.
I love finding affordable pieces that look expensive, it just makes my day!

Nursery E-Design

Have I mentioned before that I LOVE designing children’s spaces?
I recently completed this nursery design and I just love how it turned out.
Since my client is expecting her first baby, she wanted to keep all the main elements in the room gender neutral, allowing them to work for future babies regardless of the sex. She already owned the crib and glider, but needed to pull together the rest of the space.

I really adore the graphic print of the blue and white rug mixed with the wood dresser and gold accents. Obviously we couldn’t leave out a few pops of pink.

At first my client wasn’t sold on the blue and white rug, so I put together a more monochromic option.
I quite like this look too, but it’s no secret that I am a color girl at heart.
Which look do you prefer?
