5-Minute Playroom Set-Up

Ok, this post is not going to knock-your-socks-off but it is a very exciting change in the Oakey home.
Since our move is just over a month away, we have started to sell our furniture.
Last weekend we said goodbye to my kitchen table, which left me with an empty dining nook.
To date, we have never had “playroom”.
Only a few minutes after our table left I couldn’t help but whip up a make-shift playroom.
Having the kids toys so accessible and on the main floor has been amazing.
They have gotten so much use out of this space already.
I do miss having a kitchen table, but I am starting to think the sacrifice might be worth it.

Our next apartment will have an eating bar on the island, which makes me wonder if we could live without a table permanently.
The extra living space is wonderful and Ikea does have several folding table/chair options.

I think we just might just give it a try.
What do you think? Could you live without a table?
Also, have I shared my newest DIY art pieces with you?

I honestly can’t remember!
I painted over my last DIY art piece and I like how it turned out.
I think the bold colors are more me.

Buying a Rug From Ebay?

Last week I saw this awesome home tour on The Every Girl.
Although I loved the entire home, the entry really got me excited.
The black door, gold chandelier, bust lamp, and that a-m-a-z-i-n-g rug!

It’s elegant, quirky, and perfectly styled.
In my opinion the rug really makes the space.
I have been eyeing persian rugs forever and have yet to find the perfect one.
After a few minutes n Ebay I did find a couple contenders, and I am always surprised at how reasonably priced they are.
I really love this runner on for $165.00, pretty great right?
I also like this faded one. I love the worn in look.
The colors on this one are pretty fantastic!
I have purchased  a few things on Ebay in the past and have had great success. Of course it is always important to look into the sellers history, but for the most part I have been pleased with my experience.
Would you buy a rug from Ebay?

Office & Master Bedroom E-Design Plans

I recently finished up a few e-designs for an awesome client! She was such a blast to work with and I love her style.
She has a small office space that doubles as a guest room. She wanted an overall eclectic feel with pops of color and scattered semimetal pieces.
When a client sends you an inspiration picture like this, it’s hard not to get excited!

We had some functional restraints to adhere to, but I love the way the design plan came together.
We incorporated her existing chalkboard wall and paint colors, added in a gallery wall, pull-out bed, personal accessories, and pops of color!
I really can’t wait to see it come together.
I also worked on a design plan for her master bedroom.
The goal for this space was to create a little oasis. I filled it with neutrals, lots of textures, and of course a little pattern.
This is the initial design plan I sent her…

And just to add that special touch, we went with a intricate dental crown molding.
Yes please.
I really feel so lucky to be able to design for a living.
It really is the best job.
Happy Friday.
