Do You Like to Organize?

My mom has been here since Sunday and she is an organizing machine.
I wish I could say I was better at it, but I am not.
Although my home is very clean, don’t open a drawer.
I like things organized but I am horrible at keeping them that way.
I have to dig myself out of my cluttered closets and drawers about every three months.
I finally think I have found my problem, I need more organizing tools!
We have spent the last two days planning and purchasing everything to get me organized.
We started in Emory’s room.
Since we live in a 900 sq. ft two bedroom condo, her bedroom doubles as a play room.
Toy storage is a huge issue.
Yesterday we purchased this Expedit bookcase from Ikea.
It looks great and provides an easy and accessible way for Emory to get her toys.
I am also amazed at how many toys it ended up holding.

We made a quick stop at HomeGoods today and found the perfect items to accessorize the top of the bookcase. I can’t wait to style it!
My mom is on a role and I don’t want to stop her!
Since Sunday she has tackled:
Emory’s closet
Master bedroom closet
Bathroom drawers
Pantry

Go Mom go!
Here is a picture from last night at 10:30 pm.
Yes, that is my bedroom.
Ahh, scary!
I can’t wait to enjoy all my newly organized spaces.
So, the big question…
Do you like to organize? Or do you close your eyes and shut the drawer?

Light & Cheerful

Things have been a little stressful over here lately.
I spent yesterday in the hospital with a not-so-happy ending 🙁
I am fine, just have a broken heart.
These light and cheerful interiors from Muse Interiors are just what I needed.

Aren’t they beautiful?

Affordable Throws

It seems like every time I find the perfect throw, it comes with a hefty price tag.
What is the deal with $300.00 throws?
Fortunately, I have come across some stylin throws at affordable prices and I thought I would share them with you!
This multicolored zigzag throw design by Tracy Hutson is $25.30 on QVC.
I love love love it!
Jonathan Adler has a fantastic line on HSN for making his designs accessible for us regular folk 🙂
This greek key number is only $59.95!

And I am obsessed with his green hollywood throw for selling for $49.95.
It also comes in blue!

I couldn’t leave all you pink lovers out.
This pink Herringbone zigzag throw from Linens-N-Things is $35.99.

Do you know of any affordable throws to add to the mix?

Textile Thursday: a’la mode

If you haven’t been introduced to Shelli from a’la mode than you are missing out!
Her home is one of my favorites in the blogosphere and I am thrilled that she agreed to show us her textiles!

Hi Ya’ll!  This is Shelli from a’ la mode, so happy to be here!  I was so excited when Danielle asked me to guest post for Textiles Thursday, as it is one of my favorite series on one of my favorite blogs!!

As much as I do LOVE color, I prefer a serene, calm and somewhat neutral color palette in my home. It feels harmonious and peaceful in this crazy life!   Enter: flax linen.  Yes, I’m obsessed.  All curtain panels throughout my entire home are flax linen as well.  I like the continuity.

Linen is my go to textile, especially for furniture basics.  It helps me to create a calm and clean neutral palette, and the linen creates a casual beachy chic vibe to the space without being too literal.  There is flax linen in almost every room of the house!

How do I add some punch to flax linen?  Make it a stripe!  My linen striped sofa is one of my favorite pieces.  It adds a little personality without getting away from my peaceful palette.

If you know me at all, you know I am addicted to pillows!  It is such a great way to bring in texture and color to a space, not too mention at a smaller price point.  And….the possibilites are endless!  What’s not to love, right?  The variety of linen pillows in my living room show you my other color obsession, shades of blue. (secret:  the 2 larger sofa pillows are dwell dinner napkins made into pillow covers)  All others shown are from dwell studio.

In my office, turqoise ikat pillows from ebay punch up the flax linen chairs.  I just can’t get enough!

Lastly, the flax linen headboard, ivory linen foot bench cushion and graphic linen bolster finish off my master bedroom.  (secret:  the bolster was made from a table runner that no longer fit my dining table!)

Thank you for having me over today Danielle!

I definitely need to add some linen to my home, I am loving that drapery!
I told you it was amazing.
Thanks again Shelli!
