Do You Like to Organize?

My mom has been here since Sunday and she is an organizing machine.
I wish I could say I was better at it, but I am not.
Although my home is very clean, don’t open a drawer.
I like things organized but I am horrible at keeping them that way.
I have to dig myself out of my cluttered closets and drawers about every three months.
I finally think I have found my problem, I need more organizing tools!
We have spent the last two days planning and purchasing everything to get me organized.
We started in Emory’s room.
Since we live in a 900 sq. ft two bedroom condo, her bedroom doubles as a play room.
Toy storage is a huge issue.
Yesterday we purchased this Expedit bookcase from Ikea.
It looks great and provides an easy and accessible way for Emory to get her toys.
I am also amazed at how many toys it ended up holding.

We made a quick stop at HomeGoods today and found the perfect items to accessorize the top of the bookcase. I can’t wait to style it!
My mom is on a role and I don’t want to stop her!
Since Sunday she has tackled:
Emory’s closet
Master bedroom closet
Bathroom drawers
Pantry

Go Mom go!
Here is a picture from last night at 10:30 pm.
Yes, that is my bedroom.
Ahh, scary!
I can’t wait to enjoy all my newly organized spaces.
So, the big question…
Do you like to organize? Or do you close your eyes and shut the drawer?

    Hey Danielle!
Where are the basket that fit so nicely into your expedit cubbies from? I have such a hard time finding the right size baskets for my (non-ikea) cubbies.

I hear ya! I have a very clean house and love things organized but have come to the realization recently that organization is not my strong suit either. My closet is a good example 🙂 Good luck with it!

We’ve been climbing out of our messy closets – though I have a much less organized approach (a little here a little there – ’til the back of the car is full of donations:) …just read your post from the 23rd and hope you are taking time for you – there’s little a mom’s love can’t begin to heal…best wishes to you.

I love organizing! I am a designer as well as an assistant to a professional organizer for a living. Odd thing is, I am not that great at organizing in my own home! I love it and am a natural at it, I guess I just wish someone could come into my home and do it for me, like I do for them! : )

I love to organize!! Sometimes I wish I could do it professionally… it is always much easier to throw away other people’s stuff 🙂
Can’t wait to see the final result!

How sweet that your Mom is there helping you and offering you support. I love to organize. I have to gear myself up for it and then once I get going I stay on the roll to get it accocmplished. It’s a great feeling to have organization in our lives!

Great post! How fun that your mom is there to help! I am bad at starting the organizing. I always want to put it off. But once I get going- watch out! 🙂 Hope you’re doing well. 🙂

Oh dear. What would I do without the ability to HIDE my messes in drawers? “Out of sight, out of mind” doesn’t exactly work for me though– I do NOT forget my hidden messes and have a mass organizing freak out every so often 🙂

Love the Expedit. Always. Perfect toy storage. Can’t wait to see it styled w/ accessories!

I need that expedit shelf in my basement. One day I’ll get the right organization tools for my office, and that will be one of them! that’s nice that your mom is there to help. Hope all is well.

That Expedit bookcase is wonderful: we bought it in black for my daughter (actually bought two); have had them horizontal and vertical, depending on need. Then, my 90 yr. old aunt, who is a painter, has the black one in her very stylish, hip dining room and it looks fabulous! Good purchase….

I love that your mom is there helping you with all this. I love organizing! I would love it more if all the cute and stylish organization containers, baskets, etc were crazy cheap – that would help the love! 🙂 By the way, I’m still drooling over the bright colored zig zag throw that you posted last week!

Oh gosh.. I love organizing once I get on the roll with it. Otherwise, I close my eyes and book it past the toy room pretending that I never the clutters and it never saw me.

I would love to be more organized, but also appreciate being able to quickly hide the clutter in a closet or drawer (or two)! We just got the expedit for our office and it is amazing for storage!
