diy blanket to bedskirt : part 1

a couple months ago i bought this indira bedspread from ikea.
the color was a perfect match for emory’s room.
i originally planned on using it as a throw at the end of her bed, add a pop of color.
foolishly i purchased the queen size, it was huge and WAY too big for a throw.
it sloppily sat at the end of her bed until i had a great idea.
why not make a bedskirt out of it?

the bedspread was large enough that i could make a bedskirt, hem the edges of the leftover center piece, and still have enough for a throw!
so i got started…

(disclaimer: keep in mind i do NOT know how to sew. i make it up as i go. i am sure there are MUCH better ways of doing this!)

it’s now time to sew.
next up, part 2 and the reveal!

diy & potty training

i just want to sit and relax by this fireplace.
this room is calling my name.

unfortunately there is NO time for relaxation over at our abode.
i decided to tackle the dreadful job of potty training!
we completed day one, i think i lost.
potty: 1 – floor: 123324!
please tell me it gets better.
the only good thing about potty training is that we have to stay home.
this gives me plenty of time to finish up my lingering diy projects.
emory’s nightstand = painted!
i just need to put the hardware on.

i also sewed 2 pillows, painted the chalkboard, applied fabric to the back of the bookcase, prepared the child’s size rocker for painting, and finalized the lay-out for the gallery wall.

i love including personal items into a design.
emory’s miraculous beginning is something i wanted to incorporate in the room.
a gallery wall seems like the perfect way to display her incredible story.

now i am exhausted and smell like pee, lovely.
