homemade ornaments

last weekend we got started on our homemade christmas tree ornaments.
i didn’t realize how much fun this would be.
i think we will make a tradition out of it, make a new ornament every year!

since emory is still young we kept them simple.

we made dried oranges.

fabric birds from left over fabric we had.

and emory’s favorite, glitter pinecones.
we spent an hour outside collecting the pinecones, this is very exciting for a two year old.

emory applied the glue,
and i added the glitter.
our tree is still looking sparse.
i think we are going to add popcorn strings this week, back to the basics!

also, i am 5 followers away from 100, how exciting!
i love getting new followers.
isn’t the blogging world funny, comments and followers make my day!

adopt a blogger

yesterday i heard about this program, adopt-a-blogger, while browsing on out of the notebook and into the blog blog.
the program originally started by connecting a new food blogger with an experienced food blogger. They recently expanded the program to ALL bloggers!
wouldn’t it be nice to have a mentor in the blogging world, someone that can answer your million questions?
if you are a new blogger (blogging for less than a year) you can sign up here to be adopted. If you are a veteran (blogging for more than a year) go here to read all about it (or maybe even adopt me!).
i signed up to be adopted! now i am just waiting for the perfect veteran to come along. maybe it is you? pretty please.
i think this is so exciting, i can’t wait!

merry christmas?

i just might be a little excited for christmas.
i do this every year.
i set up my tree yesterday, lights only.
do you think it is a little early?

i plan on having a homemade christmas this year, decorations and all.
tomorrow night we are going to start making tree ornaments!
i think we will slowly decorate the tree this year, one homemade decoration at a time.
maybe it’s a good thing we are starting so early!
thank goodness for martha stewart and all her great tutorials!

when do you start decorating for christmas?
btw- i’ll post part 2 of my diy bedskirt as soon as i figure out how to properly thread my bobbin. i have done it SO many times before but i guess today was not my day….
