Thrifty Tuesday: IKEA Bookshelves Hack!

I have a soft spot for yellow, like a real big soft spot.
It almost brings tears to my eyes thinking about selling my yellow television stand in a couple of months. I just love that thing.
So, satisfying my yellow obsession in my next rental is a must, and I have a feeling these bookshelves will do the trick.

Now I know this is old news, but there is no better (or affordable) way to create this look than using the VITTSJO shelving unit from IKEA. They only cost $70.00 and paint up real nicely.
Although I am pretty convinced mine will be painted yellow, I wanted to share with you a round-up of my favorite VITTSJO shelf hacks!
I love how this whole room is styled, but especially those pretty IKEA Shelves!
Rachel from The Pencil Shavings pretty much killed it with her IKEA shelf hack.

The gold spray painted metal paired with the blue campaign dresser…so perfect!
(I also recommend checking out her home tour here…the before and afters are impressive)

Speaking of gold and blue, have you seen Emily from Name 5 Things formal living room tour?
Don’t walk, run.
I also spy some yummy Ikea shelves painted gold!

Clearly gold is the color of choice for this hack, but look how good it is in this room!
Lastly, Samaa from Honey Sweet Home is making me drool with her gold leafing action.
So pretty.
So who is ready to run out and buy one of these bad boys?
I know I am.
xo,

Ikea Bookshelf Hack

I love this bookshelf hack by Eddie from the Life in Grace.
She originally got the idea from the Little Green Notebook and made it work with Ikea bookshelves.
Doesn’t it look so custom and amazing?
I also love how she painted the backs of the bookshelves black, so pretty.

One day when I finally get an office, I am definitely going to give this a try.
And how awesome is that chandelier…

I adore it!
I absolutely think I could get some work done in this space, don’t you?

Textiles Thursday: Marcus Design

I am excited to introduce you to my newest daily read, Nancy from Marcus Design.
I was first introduced to Nancy when reading about her incredible DIY draper Ikea hack.
I have been hooked ever since.
Lucky for us, Nancy agreed to show us some of her favorite textiles from her home!
I am honored and thrilled to be here today and I’m sending a big hug and thank you to Danielle for asking me to participate in her lovely series! I love bold prints and colorful textiles, especially with a heavy does of texture, they just liven up my home and make me smile every time I walk by.
Last summer I added a touch of turquoise to my living room and this pretty shade has done wonders for my space. First, a lovely little chair with a fabulous velvet pattern graced the corner nook {the chair was a HomeSense/HomeGoods score!}. I paired it with a glam silk pillow in chocolate brown and the contrast of the thick texture in the chair with a bit of shine on the pillow is perfection.
Next I picked up a little Morrish tile print to mix it ip a little. I love the Moroccan vibe and these pillows were a real find at $20 a piece from HomeSense:
And finally, I think I will never tire of Kelly Wearstler’s Imperial Trellis! I just love the texture on this heavy linen. This colorway is Parchment/Midnight and works well with my bedding from the House & Home line at The Bay.

So there you have it! A few of the textiles that bring me joy everyday. Next up I have plans for some curtain panels and Roman blinds with a Greek-key inspired motive!! Thank you again to Danielle for inviting me to share pieces of my home.
I love her use of color, texture, and pattern.
Imperial Trellis fabric is also a favorite of mine and I think it is perfect in her bedroom.
I also can’t wait to see her new Roman blinds.

Thank so much Nancy!

Also, I am guest posting over at Modern Jane today sharing some of my favorite things from my home! I’ll see you over there.

A Good Day and A DIY Project!

Yesterday was a big day for my little old blog, I finally reached 1000 official followers!
Even though not everyone that reads my blog is an official follower, reaching 1000 on Google friend connect was a big thing for me.
Why is it so rewarding to see that number get bigger and bigger?
I even took a screen shot of it…
Yes, I am a dork.
It is so fun watching this blog slowly grow, it almost feels like my second child.
Thanks to everyone that sticks around, I sure do appreciate it!
I also started a project yesterday.
I kinda feel like I have been in a DIY rut lately and it felt so good to get back at it.
Remember Nancy’s amazing DIY Dorothy Draper rast hack?

Well, I combined the two and made my own!
Here is a sneak peek…

I have been wanting to make A DIY Dorothy Draper chest f-o-r-e-v-e-r, so I finally bit the bullet and got started!
It is taking a little longer than expected ( I still have 5 out the 6 drawers left to paint) but I hope to have them finished soon and I will share all the details!
Yay for a good day 🙂
