A Fresh Start: My Family Room/Office Tour

I can’t believe it has been over a week since I last posted! Getting settled, flying to Atlanta to speak at Haven, and having my Mom in town really consumed all of my time. I’ll admit, I am so excited to get back into my regular routine, start decorating my house, and of course posting on this little old blog again!
I am VERY excited about our blank slate. The crisp white walls literally make me want to cry tears of joy. I just love them.
Let me show you around…
Here is the view from our front door. Our living room will also host my office, so making this space beautiful yet functional is a top priority.
We need a rug, pillows, art, drapery, accessories, and a coffee table or ottoman.
I really want to add lots of texture into this room. I am thinking a variety of woods, metals, and I would love to add some furs as well.
I plan to add some serious pops of color and pattern in this room. I am thinking some DIY block print drapery and layered rugs!

I have big plans for the wall above the sofa. A few very large DIY art pieces should do the trick. I have some ideas brewing.

I have already purchased a white lacquer TV stand from Ikea as well as a blue wingback, side table, and lamp from TJ Maxx!

Obviously this space has a looong way to go and I can’t wait to share the process with you.
I do feel like the blank slate leads for a ton of possibilities, which gets me really excited!

I can’t wait to get started!
I’ll be sharing the rest of my home tour this week and hopefully get started on some projects! I hope you follow along.

Hello California!

I can’t believe it has been a week since we arrived in California.
Our move did not lack adventure. Both cars broke down in the Mojave desert (in 113 degree weather!), tow trucks, extra hotels, driving back 3 hours to tow our own car, and I lost my wallet shortly after arriving. It was a thrill really.
To say the least, the kids and I could not have been happier to get the keys to our new apartment.

So far we are loving our new California home. Our apartment is nice and clean, filled with crisp white walls (yay!), and it is bigger than I thought. A good surprise right?

I plan to post a full tour soon (along with my rental decorating plans), but here is a quick look into our little place so far.
I have purchased a few things from Ikea since arriving, including this tiny white table and chairs.
It fits perfectly in my kitchen and I can’t wait to spice up this little space.
We sold almost ALL of our furniture so things are bare around here.  Last week I did manage to pick up a fiddle leaf fig tree from Home Depot (clearly I have my priorities in order right?).

I also snagged a crib, lamp, and fabric for Emory’s bed from Ikea.

Oh and a few nightstands/dressers too. We gave the kids the master bedroom so we are getting creative with our storage options!
I quickly tossed our old sofa pillows on the bed, but plan to go a completely different direction in here.
I am so excited to put my stamp on this place!
Oh and I will be speaking at Haven this week in Atlanta, so many exiting things ahead!

A Few of My Favorite Things!

I hope you all had a great weekend!
I love it when I find new furniture pieces and accessories, so I wanted to share a few of my favorites with you!

This new nailhead wingback from World Market is a pretty great deal and I love the color! I have a feeling I will be using it often in designs.

Have you seen this chandelier at World Market? I want it sooooo bad. Good news,  it is reasonably priced too.
I recently used these dining chairs in an e-design. A set of 2 for $286.00…total steal. Hello perfect stripes.
I love this little side table. You really can never go wrong with gold.
I am pretty much obsessed with this navy spotted pillow from Caitlin Wilson Textiles.
The pattern pairing possibilities are endless!
Happy Monday!

Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree Love

One of the first purchases I plan on making when we arrive in California is a Fiddle Leaf Fig tree!
I have been smitten with them for what seems like forever, and I am positive it is time to make it happen.
I am 50% excited about the getting a new tree and 50% excited about what I am going to put it in.
A pot, a basket, DIY a planter? Oh the possibilites.

I am torn between a geometric pot and a chunky woven basket.
Have you purchased yourself one yet?
