I can’t believe it has been over a week since I last posted! Getting settled, flying to Atlanta to speak at Haven, and having my Mom in town really consumed all of my time. I’ll admit, I am so excited to get back into my regular routine, start decorating my house, and of course posting on this little old blog again!
I am VERY excited about our blank slate. The crisp white walls literally make me want to cry tears of joy. I just love them.
Let me show you around…
Here is the view from our front door. Our living room will also host my office, so making this space beautiful yet functional is a top priority.
We need a rug, pillows, art, drapery, accessories, and a coffee table or ottoman.
I really want to add lots of texture into this room. I am thinking a variety of woods, metals, and I would love to add some furs as well.
I plan to add some serious pops of color and pattern in this room. I am thinking some DIY block print drapery and layered rugs!
I have big plans for the wall above the sofa. A few very large DIY art pieces should do the trick. I have some ideas brewing.
I have already purchased a white lacquer TV stand from Ikea as well as a blue wingback, side table, and lamp from TJ Maxx!
Obviously this space has a looong way to go and I can’t wait to share the process with you.
I do feel like the blank slate leads for a ton of possibilities, which gets me really excited!
I can’t wait to get started!
I’ll be sharing the rest of my home tour this week and hopefully get started on some projects! I hope you follow along.
xo,

Love what you’ve got going already… where is that chair from? I love it.
I am excited to see what you come up with! 🙂 You are doing an awesome job as usual!
what a great bright space to work with! can’t wait to see what you do. it was SO fabulous to meet you at haven! i thoroughly enjoyed your class- thank you so much for sharing your talent and creativity!
I’m excited to see what you do! I’m in the middle of unpacking and setting up an apartment right now, too. It’s so much fun to see the potential!
Hi Danielle! I’m a new reader of your blog and I have to say I love it! interior design and stay-at-home-mum combination is familiar me too here in Finland 🙂 – Marika
Can’t wait to see it! Would love to see a design board of your ideas for the space and then see it come to life.
I can’t wait to see what you will do. It looks so spacious and bright. Love that chair by the way
There is definitely so much to do and I can’t wait to see you do it all! The wingback and side table are awesome.
How fun to get to start from pretty much a blank slate! I am loving that side table.
Where is that pink/purple pillow on your blue chair from?
The space you can work with have a great potential! I can’t wait to see the result, especially because of the combination of different kinds of wood, metal and fur you are writing about. This sounds pretty complicated and I can’t really imagine it but well, maybe it’s because I love simple modern minimalism considered also as a bit “cold” (something like this, the design in the second picture) so your current “in progress” family room design would be almost my finished one… 🙂
