not your typical tree topper

i wasn’t happy with my tree topper.
i’ve had it for 5 years and never liked it.
this year i made a goal to NOT buy new christmas decorations.
i had to get creative.
i scored two of these mirrors a couple months back from my local thrift store.
$1.00 each, seemed like a deal to me.

i decided to tape the two of them together and use as my tree topper.
i know it’s not a typical tree topper, but i kind of like it.
i think the shape, color, and finish of the mirrors give it that christmas feel.

what do you think?
should i keep it?

i also found this mirror at a thrift store for $.75

i think it looks perfect peeking through the branches.

desk as nightstand

my husband studies 80 hours a week.
living in only 950 sq. ft doesn’t make it easy for him to study at home.
i have been on the hunt for the perfect desk to use as a nightstand.
my current bedroom:

i am immediately drawn to the white parsons desk.
classic, simple, and functional.

although the parsons desk would be nice, i think i will stick to a craigslist deal.
the search is on.

has anyone ever used a desk as a nightstand?
do you like it?

off to the painter.

typically i do all my own painting.
it’s a great way to transform a piece of furniture for a low price.
this time i’ve decided to hire a professional to refinish my faux bamboo chairs.
i want them finished in a high gloss lacquer, apparently it’s not that easy to do.
so off to the painter they go.
with a quote of $25.00/chair, how could i resist?
junque is a local company that specializes in custom painted furniture.

i am overly impressed with their work.
you may of seen some of their pieces at emilie jayne, one of my favorite local consignment stores.
i wouldn’t mind owning this antique dresser.
doesn’t it look great in aqua?

what a funky piece, it sells for $130.00

this highboy is calling my name.
i have a thing for antique dressers.

make sure you check out their blog.
or if you want to get a piece refinished, their prices are fantastic.
now i have to decide what color.
i typically always do white.
i am thinking of branching out, i am leaning towards this blue…
