Thrifty Tuesday: DIY Side Tables

I recently discovered this amazing DIY side table on Aubrey + Lindsay’s blog.
They purchased the Rast Chest of drawers from Ikea for $29.99 and transformed it.
I am in love.

A little stain, paint, and new hardware and you wouldn’t know it was the same piece.

I haven’t been able to get this DIY out of my head.
Although I already have bedside tables, I like these better and I love the storage they offer.
So off to Ikea we went!
Frozen yogurt and the swivel wheels on the carts provide the perfect entertainment for toddlers (and husbands).
I couldn’t wait to get started!
Yes, there are a million pieces in those boxes!
1/2 an hour later and I have the bases built!
They are ready to be stained.
Aubrey and Lindsay recommended painting the drawers before assembly.
This made it super easy.
I painted one coat of primer and now I am about to apply the paint!
So far so good.
I can’t wait to get them finished!
Do you have a great DIY you would like featured?
Send it my way, I would love to see it.

Toddlers & Interiors

Toddlers can be tough on interiors.
This week confirmed as much.
Notice anything different about my faux bamboo chair?
Yep, that would be a huge hole.
A very dramatic fall caused the damage.
i wanted to cry…
But I didn’t.
It is just a chair, right?
Luckily it isn’t painted yet and I think I can fix it.
Any suggestions?
The chair is not the only victim this week.
My table skirt has seen better days.
Every time Emory gets off the computer her foot catches on the table skirt trim.
I guess fabric glue is not toddler proof.
The saggy trim was driving me nuts!
An easy solution, sew it on.
One episode of the Kardashians later and I was finished (did I just admit that?)
I always wanted it sewn on, but I was too lazy.
This ended up working out, the glue held it in place while I quickly sewed on the trim.
Speaking of sewing, I am an amateur.
I recently purchased this LIFE SAVING tool, a cone thread holder.
Before owing the holder I balanced the thread on the bobbin threader thing (very technical term).
This new contraption is incredible.
I even successfully threaded my bobbin the first time I tried!
yippee!

And the winner is….

I randomly selected Sara and I am exited to get started!
I wish everyone could of won.
I will do it again, I promise 🙂
