Toddlers can be tough on interiors.
This week confirmed as much.
Notice anything different about my faux bamboo chair?
But I didn’t.
It is just a chair, right?
Luckily it isn’t painted yet and I think I can fix it.
Any suggestions?
The chair is not the only victim this week.
My table skirt has seen better days.
Every time Emory gets off the computer her foot catches on the table skirt trim.
I guess fabric glue is not toddler proof.
The saggy trim was driving me nuts!
An easy solution, sew it on.
One episode of the Kardashians later and I was finished (did I just admit that?)
I always wanted it sewn on, but I was too lazy.
This ended up working out, the glue held it in place while I quickly sewed on the trim.
Speaking of sewing, I am an amateur.
I recently purchased this LIFE SAVING tool, a cone thread holder.
This new contraption is incredible.
I even successfully threaded my bobbin the first time I tried!
yippee!
The chair has got to be fixable, I’m just not sure how 🙁
Oh I am so sorry about your chair. I probably would have cried. But I’m glad you’re so positive because I really think you can mend it. P.S. I watch The Kardashians too! Ha ha
elmers wood glue… it definitely can be fixed! (My husband broke my lucite ghost chair and I cried… wood glue wouldn’t fix that!) But honestly- it’s worth a shot.. maybe even a very short nail from a nail gun to hold it in place? Update us on your process of fixing that beauty!

Wood glue will for sure fix that! My dad refinishes antique furniture and i’ve definitely seen worse. Don’t worry!
Agree with all above, Elmers wood glue should do the trick, but if there are missing spots you can fill with wood putty, sand, prime and paint. The joys of parenthood! Good luck!
I know it’s just a chair but I feel for you. How sad! At least it hasn’t been painted yet, and you still can fix it! And I do watch the Kardashians too, especially the New York episodes!
I love it that you admit to watching the Kardashians! I watch several of the reality shows. Sometimes I am embarassed to admit it.
Sorry bout your chair but I bet you will be able to fix it!
I know all about pieces falling victim to toddlers! Who are the Kardashians???? ha! love that show. Great tip on the thread holder. I would love one of those.
You’ve got the right attitude, it’s just a chair…though a great one! I’d use a bit of wood glue and filler, and then lightly sand any that seeps out of the break. Good luck! Janell
You are just lucky that the chair wasn’t painted yet!
Def wood glue. They break our furniture, but fill our hearts, right?
Danielle,
I just had to laugh because my kids probably would have waited for me to notice it, and then argue about who did it!!

Good luck on fixing the chair!
I think the chair is definitely fixable, just not sure how- congrats on the sewing and the new contraption. I love when you discover new things that make jobs etc. so muhc easier.
Poor chair. I wish I had some suggestions for you. And I have sewing envy. I want to learn too.
This is random, but I love the fabric on your chair cushion!
I seriously do not understand the contraption you bought for your sewing machine. I guess if it works for you that’s good enough for me:) I guess another option would be taking the skirt to your local dry cleaner. They will sew things like that for a small fee (in case you feel lazy again). I do not have a toddler but I have a husband who is just as challenging:))
I didn’t even see it until you pointed it out. I have no idea what all those sewing terms are either?!?!? I’m feeling all around clueless today!
I worked on Sloan’s drapes this weekend…adding ribbon trim…with fabric glue. Great.
Oh no! Sorry to hear about your chair — but I am sure with some wood glue, no one will ever know about the little boo boo!
Wood glue and you might need some small clamps to hold it in place while it dries. Then fill any holes or dents with wood putty and sand. Once you paint it will look good an new.
I love when I thread the bobbin on my first try. 🙂
I totally feel your pain here. My boyfriend broke my FRESHLY PAINTED bamboo chair and I definitely cried. I haven’t fixed it yet but am glad to see some of the suggestion people gave you. I hadn’t thought I could fix it on my own but now I think I can. Good luck and keep us posted!!
You can fix your chair with 2P-10 glue and you wont even need clamps. Its like super glue for wood and its really strong.
