My New Bedroom!

A few weeks ago The Company Store contacted me about reviewing some of their bedding.
Of course I said yes, our sheets are in baaaad shape.
Please tell me I am not the only one that has waited way too long to replace their sheets?
After spending one night in them, I have promised myself to never wait so long again.
It was definitely the right pick for my bedroom.
I don’t know about you, but I like to keep my bedroom light and airy.
I am a huge fan of crisp white bedding.
The sheets and pillow cases have a simple graphic pattern that looks great with my white coverlet. I also love their light blue color, they are perfect with my headboard.
I found this simple floral lumbar at Home Goods for $16.99.
I think my husband might be happy to finally have no pink in our bedroom.
I must say I am really happy with my new bedding.
I definitely don’t mind crawling into bed at night!
I also can’t wait to get some drapery on my windows, I think it will make such a difference in our bedroom, don’t you?

5 Minute DIY Painted Pot!

After seeing the beautiful pots by Hunt & Bow, I was inspired to add a little color to my little fake orchid on my coffee table.
It was super simple and only took a few minutes.
Since my hand is not steady enough to paint a straight line, I opted for a little curve action.
I used $.55 acrylic pants from Walmart that I already owned from my DIY abstract art.
I painted the blue curve, filled it in, added the white to the top and repeated for 3 coats!
Now you may want to sit down for this before and after reveal, it is pretty amazing…
Ok, it may only be small difference but I sure do love it!
I think it adds so much life to my pretty potted orchid.
Now I am in the mood to keep on painting, it sure is fun and easy.

Thrifty Tuesday: Dorothy Draper Chest Look for less!

Pier 1 has some great pieces right now.
One of my friends on Instagram (I can’t remember who?!) informed me of this awesome Dorothy Draper inspired chest
I am obsessed with it.
It sells for $399.00 and would make some killer nightstands.
I am pretty sure most designers would love to get their hands on a real Dorothy Draper chest.

Arn’t they just so beautiful and classic.
I will most likely never own a real Dorothy Draper chest, but I wouldn’t mind snagging one (or two) from Pier One!
You can see my Dorothy Draper DIY nightstands here.
Next up, they are also selling this super cool (and on-trend) outdoor hanging chair.
It’s $249.00 and I would love to see it indoors.
Emily Henderson recently used a hanging chair in a living room design.
I love it.

And how amazing does this hanging chair look in this space?

Moral of the story, I want one…bad!
Let’s not forget about the peacock mirror!
The Golden Medallions Mirror is back at Pier 1 and is only $279.00.

This has to be my all-time favorite mirror. You can also find a replica at Z-Gallerie and Pottery Barn, but this one is the least expensive
Pier 1 Imports is killing it lately!
Also, if you happen to have an instagram account, you can follow me @danielleoakeyinteriors. I’d love that.

Emory’s Budget Makeover Plans!

You may remember Emory’s DIY loft bed from her old bedroom.
Well I still love it but it doesn’t fit in her new room.
Her bedroom in our rental home is tiny and the loft bed would cover half of the window. Instead of getting rid of it, I have decided to convert it into a daybed. I still need to work out all of the details, but I am really excited.
I want it to look something like this one…
You can buy this daybed at Walmart for $299.00, which actually is a pretty good deal, but still a little out of my budget.
I found this delicious fabric at my local Home Fabrics store for $5.99 a yard. Emory loves the color and I think it is the perfect fabric for an upholstered daybed.
I am also in the middle of making her drapery! I spent the weekend sewing drapery and adding this black pom pom trim. I am not a very good sewer, but luckily these have been really easy to make.
I can’t wait to put them up.
My color inspiration for the room comes from the fabric on this pillow.
This has to be one of my favorite fabrics. It will look really great on the her new purple daybed and help tie everything together.
Since I can’t paint, I am also considering these stars for the wall behind her bed.
They are only $32.00 for 128 of them, not bad at all.
I must admit, there is something about creating a space on a tight budget that I love.
Crazy right?
