The Perfect Affordable Desk.

A couple weeks ago when we first arrived to California I headed to Ikea and bought the least expensive desk I could find. It was $20.00 and served its purpose but was not the look I was going for.  It also did not have a drawer, which is a big problem for me.
I spent way too much time than I would like to admit at Ikea trying to make one of their desk options work, but ultimately I just didn’t love any of them.
Last week I came across this white Threshold desk from Target. It is only $109.00, is white, has a drawer, and I just love the simplicity.
As always, I surfed the internet looking to see if someone else has used this desk, and of course they did, because it is a great looking desk for a great price.
Closet Full of Nothing shared these photos of her white threshold desk a few months back.
Of course styled beautifully too.

You really can’t beat the price or look of this desk.
To me, it is the perfect affordable desk.

New Land Of Nod Must Haves!

Have you had a chance to check out the new items at Land of Nod?
Not only have they introduced a campaigner style dresser, nightstand, and desk to their line, they also have really stepped up their styling game!
The inspiration pictures are just jaw dropping.

I know this is a children’s store, but I can’t help but use their products in adult spaces too! Like that desk…I kinda need it for myself.
A little round-up of all my favorite new products….

Well done Land of Nod
I love.

Rug Vote!

Ok, I have been obsessing over this rug situation for far too long now.
The nice thing about designing a space for myself is that I can change my mind regularly…which I tend to do often.
I do know that I want a layered look and the larger (bottom) rug will be a natural fiber, like jute or something similar. Since purchasing 2 rugs is not-so-much in the budget, I am doing my best to add a few affordable options in the mix.
I have been pondering ahese 6 lately….

1. Passages Rug (3×5 – too small, maybe for the entry?): $136.00
3. Magical Thinking Rug (5×8): $89.00
4. Tile Wool Rug: (5×8) $349.00
5. Locust Rug: (5×7): $149.00
6. Magical Thinking Striped Rug (4×6): $109.00
I think I can get away with the second rug being smaller. Just big enough to add that pop of color and pattern.
I have a few ideas of what I want to happen in this space. . I would love to get my hands on some ethic textiles, a pop of color in the drapery, and some graphic and abstract art is a must.
I quickly threw together a design board, with each picture only representing a general look, not the necessarily the exact item.
Ok, shall we take a vote?

Does your head hurt yet?!
I would love to hear your opinions!

A Fresh Start: My Family Room/Office Tour

I can’t believe it has been over a week since I last posted! Getting settled, flying to Atlanta to speak at Haven, and having my Mom in town really consumed all of my time. I’ll admit, I am so excited to get back into my regular routine, start decorating my house, and of course posting on this little old blog again!
I am VERY excited about our blank slate. The crisp white walls literally make me want to cry tears of joy. I just love them.
Let me show you around…
Here is the view from our front door. Our living room will also host my office, so making this space beautiful yet functional is a top priority.
We need a rug, pillows, art, drapery, accessories, and a coffee table or ottoman.
I really want to add lots of texture into this room. I am thinking a variety of woods, metals, and I would love to add some furs as well.
I plan to add some serious pops of color and pattern in this room. I am thinking some DIY block print drapery and layered rugs!

I have big plans for the wall above the sofa. A few very large DIY art pieces should do the trick. I have some ideas brewing.

I have already purchased a white lacquer TV stand from Ikea as well as a blue wingback, side table, and lamp from TJ Maxx!

Obviously this space has a looong way to go and I can’t wait to share the process with you.
I do feel like the blank slate leads for a ton of possibilities, which gets me really excited!

I can’t wait to get started!
I’ll be sharing the rest of my home tour this week and hopefully get started on some projects! I hope you follow along.
