last weekend we got started on our homemade christmas tree ornaments.
i didn’t realize how much fun this would be.
i think we will make a tradition out of it, make a new ornament every year!
since emory is still young we kept them simple.
we made dried oranges.

fabric birds from left over fabric we had.
and emory’s favorite, glitter pinecones.
we spent an hour outside collecting the pinecones, this is very exciting for a two year old.
emory applied the glue,

and i added the glitter.

our tree is still looking sparse.
i think we are going to add popcorn strings this week, back to the basics!
also, i am 5 followers away from 100, how exciting!
i love getting new followers.
isn’t the blogging world funny, comments and followers make my day!
Fantastic! When I was in University my roommates and I found a second hand tree that we would decorate at Christmas. Since we didn’t have a lot of money for ornaments, we did popcorn strings! They took a while to string enough for our tree, but I loved them. I wish we could do them now, but with two dogs who love to eat EVERYTHING, I know they wouldn’t last in our house!
I love the idea of homemade ornaments. We are just starting our collection and I think it would be perfect to have some we have made.
And I couldn’t agree more about comments and followers! I can’t help but smile everytime I see that number go up, or get an email for a new comment!
They make my day, too 🙂
And I LOVE those glitter pinecones.
Adorable!
Now you’re only 4 away from 100!
Oh how fun! The birds are adorable too. Your daughter will really cherish these memories when she’s older as you continue the tradition. I need to add your blog to my blogroll when I update it this month- I love it!
You have totally inspired me to do Christmas ornaments. I told my sister and she already bought a Christmas craft magazine. We are starting on Wednesday. I’ll let you know how it goes.
I think it is wonderful that you are doing this. You are making sweet memories and sharing creativity with your sweet daughter.

I love the idea of involving Emory. I’m definitely going to come back to this idea when Charlotte is a little older, I love it! Thanks for sharing!
I am so excited about Christmas. And am really fighting the temptation to get out my tree before Thanksgiving. Love doing homemade ornaments.
xx
Great ornament ideas!!! I’m definitely going to do the dried oranges ornament with my older kids! Now to find the time.
Thanks so much for sharing.
Love your ornaments- so pretty and such a great family tradition! I can totally relate to the followers/comments- always makes my day when those numbers go up:)

That is so sweet that you could do that together! Can’t wait to see your tree!
What a lovely blog you have! And you’re so crafty, I could probably learn a thing or two 🙂
Hi Danielle, thank you for the lovely comment on my blog. This is one fab idea for Christmas tree decorations – it is going to look stunning! Hope you will post the images of the tree as it slowly gets it clothes for the season.
I remember doing dried oranges on the tree too when you were little. Do you remember having homemade ginger cookies on our tree? Try those they are fun to make and the whole room will smell of gingerbread! Don’t forget to bake the cookies with the hole cut in first.
You are off to a fabulous start!
Woo hoo!!! You are above 100!!! That’s so cool!
Love the homemade ornaments, Emory is so lucky to have a crafty Mom!
