homemade ornaments

last weekend we got started on our homemade christmas tree ornaments.
i didn’t realize how much fun this would be.
i think we will make a tradition out of it, make a new ornament every year!

since emory is still young we kept them simple.

we made dried oranges.

fabric birds from left over fabric we had.

and emory’s favorite, glitter pinecones.
we spent an hour outside collecting the pinecones, this is very exciting for a two year old.

emory applied the glue,
and i added the glitter.
our tree is still looking sparse.
i think we are going to add popcorn strings this week, back to the basics!

also, i am 5 followers away from 100, how exciting!
i love getting new followers.
isn’t the blogging world funny, comments and followers make my day!

Fantastic! When I was in University my roommates and I found a second hand tree that we would decorate at Christmas. Since we didn’t have a lot of money for ornaments, we did popcorn strings! They took a while to string enough for our tree, but I loved them. I wish we could do them now, but with two dogs who love to eat EVERYTHING, I know they wouldn’t last in our house!

I love the idea of homemade ornaments. We are just starting our collection and I think it would be perfect to have some we have made.

And I couldn’t agree more about comments and followers! I can’t help but smile everytime I see that number go up, or get an email for a new comment!

You have totally inspired me to do Christmas ornaments. I told my sister and she already bought a Christmas craft magazine. We are starting on Wednesday. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I remember doing dried oranges on the tree too when you were little. Do you remember having homemade ginger cookies on our tree? Try those they are fun to make and the whole room will smell of gingerbread! Don’t forget to bake the cookies with the hole cut in first.
