Back to School Clothes on the Cheap!

My sweet little Emory started kindergarten this week.
I know everyone says it, but it really does go by so fast.
In preparation for school, I have been putting together practical, affordable, and stylish outfits for Em. Although I love her to look cute, I am also a big believer that she should be able to play hard in her clothes.
Emory saw this dress at Target and fell in love. I couldn’t resist it either, the deer pattern is adorable and it was only $16.99.
I am not a huge fan of the opening in the back (she is only 5!), so I added a light weight tank from H&M underneath.
Em loves to run, jump, dance, slide, roll but she still likes to wear dresses.
I always put leggings underneath so she can feel comfortable doing her thing.

Her leggings are also from Target and only $5.00!
I love mixing patterns and I think these three look adorable on her.
Her shoes were purchased last year from Joe Fresh.
Speaking of Joe Fresh, you MUST check out your local JCPenney. They now carry the children’s Joe Fresh line and currently have SO many great items on clearance.
I snagged these 3 pieces today for super cheap! Total score.
I cant wait till fall.
Where do you shop for your little ones?

My Dream Home Plans…

Last week I caught wind that my mom might be building a house.
Of course, this got my mind spinning.
What I would give to build a house right now. One day I plan to build (or renovate an old home) and then my 20+ years of researching, dreaming, and drooling will pay off, right?
Until then, I will dream for other people. It’s almost as fun anyways.
I’ve started a Pinterest board where I am collecting ideas for my mom’s house…she has great style herself, but I am pretty sure it is my job as her daughter to give her a few suggestions….
1. First things first…I have a complete love for black windows.
I mean, come on, this little breakfast nook enveloped in black windows makes my knees weak.

In my opinion, a black window over the kitchen sink is an absolute must.

2. Next item of business, subway tile.
No fancy backsplash will ever win me over like subway tile does.
It’s classic, clean, and has so much character.
Now add a little dark grout and tile the wall from counter to ceiling…and I am a puddle of mush.

3. Let’s talk about open shelving.
I think it’s a must these days. A kitchen full of cabinets just doesn’t do it for me anymore.
Don’t you think mixing woods, metals and glass adds so much life a space? I looove how this open shelving was styled.

4. Plank Walls
Yep, they are so-popular right now and I am on board (no pun intended!). I love them in a mudroom or back entry. Now throw in some black windows and I am one happy camper.

5. Mixing finishes.
Is that a chrome faucet and gold hardware?
This is definitely the #1 design detail that I have to convince my clients of. Yes, mix finishes! The end result is sooo good.
These two bathrooms complete me. They are both cohesive but completely packed full of personality and mixed finishes.

I am super excited to see what my mom comes up with.
You can follow my Pinterest board here, I guarantee I will continue to give her a few more suggestions…

You can’t go wrong with a gourd table lamp
I love the color of this blue one and $79.95 isn’t too shabby.

It’s always fun to score good deals on products that are higher quality. Also, many of the products are free shipping, doesn’t get much better than that.
Now only if I could buy it all…

My New Bedroom!

A few weeks ago The Company Store contacted me about reviewing some of their bedding.
Of course I said yes, our sheets are in baaaad shape.
Please tell me I am not the only one that has waited way too long to replace their sheets?
After spending one night in them, I have promised myself to never wait so long again.
It was definitely the right pick for my bedroom.
I don’t know about you, but I like to keep my bedroom light and airy.
I am a huge fan of crisp white bedding.
The sheets and pillow cases have a simple graphic pattern that looks great with my white coverlet. I also love their light blue color, they are perfect with my headboard.
I found this simple floral lumbar at Home Goods for $16.99.
I think my husband might be happy to finally have no pink in our bedroom.
I must say I am really happy with my new bedding.
I definitely don’t mind crawling into bed at night!
I also can’t wait to get some drapery on my windows, I think it will make such a difference in our bedroom, don’t you?
