My sweet friend Hailey introduced me to this book My Beautiful Room and I quickly fell in love! It is the PERFECT book to introduce young designers to the world of Interior Design. Emory is now 9.5 and finding gifts for her is getting harder. She’s not that interested in toys anymore and its nice to find something that is not electronics. Plus teaching her about Interior Design just might make my heart swell.
The book introduces them to all the basic elements and principles of design but in a way they can understand and practice them. It is so cute!
First they start out by writing down how they will use their room.
Some of Emory’s ideas and wishes for her room were:
- Twin Bed
- Pretty flowers by window
- Comfy spot to chill at
- Shelves to put books on
- Taylor Swift poster
Then the book starts teaching them about design! Pages explaining pattern, color, texture etc!
It also talks about furnishing your room!
Then it is your turn to create your floor plan.
The back of the book has pages of cut outs that they can use to create their furnitures layout. I LOVED helping her create a design that is functional and pretty.
There are pages for them to practice using color, pattern, and texture.
And stickers to help make their designs come to life!
They also have a 3D section where they can create a 3D version of their room. SO cool. You can get this book here for only $14.99!
Yep, I love it. Maybe I should get one for myself?
