online nursery design

this week i completed an online nursery design for a friend from high school.
i don’t think i have seen her since graduation almost 9 years ago!
i was thrilled when she contacted me to ask for design help.
clients design requirements:

1. she received a needlepoint picture from her grandma and wanted to incorporate it in the room.

i love adding personal items into a design.
it is what gives a space character, history, and a personal connection.
this piece inspired the rest of my design.

2. she likes wall decals, she wanted to have one in the nursery if it could coordinate with the design
3. she wanted a white crib that was unisex, making it useable for a baby boy in the future.
4. she does not like brown and pink together, or an ALL pink room.

that was it, what a perfect client!

design concept:

an eclectic mixture of modern pieces paired with old antiques complete a unique yet fresh vibe. dusty pale pink walls with pops of vibrant rose and accents of calming blue textiles make a serene yet eye catching color scheme.

i had so much fun with this design and can’t wait to see how it turns out!
i charge $75.00 for an online design service.

sheepskin envy

i’ve got a large case of sheepskin envy.
as our temperatures continue to drop, i can’t get sheepskin off my mind.
i love the idea of a cozy sheepskin throw on a sofa.

or adding some warmth to a side chair.

even better, under my feet, ahhhh!

laying by a fire on a sheepskin rug, yes please.

i am always on the hunt for affordable options.
i am seriously considering ikea’s sheep skin rug.
it’s only $39.99.

the website doesn’t give the dimensions but i imagine it isn’t very big.
does anyone have experience with the ikea sheepskin rug?
how do you like it?

diy chair makeover

i finally finished my chair makeover.
it sure is harder than it looks.
i started this makeover about 4 months ago.
i quickly painted, removed the existing fabric, and began to re-upholster.
then i got frustrated, so i stopped.
the torn up chair sat in the corner of my living room piled high with fabric and batting.
it haunted me daily.
then my mom arrived and 3 hours later, it was DONE!
what a relief.
i still need to finish stuffing the seat and back cushion but i am SO excited to be almost done i couldn’t wait to share.
i am in love.
much better than a pile of fabric in the corner!

project cost:

chair – $15.00
main fabric -$9.00
back fabric- $12.00
white paint – free (already had)
batting – $3.00 (40% off coupon at joanns)
trim – $3.50 (40% off coupon at joanns)
total: $42.50

i am so excited about how the back turned out.
i love the unexpected pattern.

what do you think?

chic wall decals

this week i have been on the hunt for the perfect wall decal for a nursery i am designing.
i stumbled across this etsy shop, byrdie graphics, and can’t get enough.
their prices range from $40.00 – $120.00
not bad for such a statement piece.
