Textiles Thursday: Modern Jane

The talented Jane from Modern Jane is here today.
How lucky are we.
I love reading Jane’s blog and her home is gorgeous!

Hi there! I’m Modern Jane and I’m thrilled that Danielle asked me to come by today and share some of my favorite textiles from around my home.
I love fabrics, pillows, and curtains. I can get lost in a fabric store or browsing though online fabric sites. My mom rolls her eyes when I head directly to the pillow aisle at Home Sense, in search of that perfect down-filled cushion. I have a collection of fabrics that I have bought out of love, without a project in mind. I’m sure I’ll find a spot somewhere, some day to use them!
I want to share some of my favorites from the living room. The back wall has a geometric wallpaper, so most of the textiles in the room are fairly monotone, solid colors, as to avoid too much contrast in pattern.
I love the contrast of the nubby cream pillows with the raw silk blue ones.
The furry brown pillow is quite possible the softest thing I’ve ever felt.

I picked up this chair, and its twin, from a local motel and had them reupholstered in a soft blue fabric.
I added some flirty cream felt pillows (Which are magnets for dog hair, but are too cute to replace yet!)

This chair is the second dose of pattern in the room. I found the chair at a local vintage store and had it reupholstered in this fun floral fabric. It’s an indoor/outdoor fabric, so it should withstand lots of use!
A furry cream pillow found a home on that one.
And just in case you think that I’m scared of pattern…
check out the couch in my office🙂
and the roman shades in my bedroom.
I love color and pattern too!
Danielle – Thanks so much for having me today!
I hope you all enjoyed my little tour of textiles around my home!
I could definitely get some work done in that office.
The eclectic mixture of bold and colorful pillows are perfect.
Thanks so much for the tour Jane!

Also, I am guest posting over at Roost today.
Marissa is hosting Mens Week and I am discussing how I incorporated my hubby’s style in our home!

My Master Bedroom!

We bought our condo almost 2 years ago.
It was built in the 70’s and the construction quality is less than fabulous.
Although the condo seemed hopeless, I had no choice but to make it work.
Here is what the master bedroom looked like the first time we saw it.
If you are going to sell, please please please clean up.
Most people can not see past the mess.
I wish I had a better picture of the whole room!
and today…

much better!
Total cost of the room makeover: $585.00

Fabric Scraps

I am in need of some pillows for my sofa.
I even have the original pillows that came with the sofa still on it, ahhh!
I so badly want to go on Etsy, a.k.a “pillow crack”, and purchase 5 gorgeous new pillows.
My thrifty side says no…I sure hate that side sometimes.
I pulled out some of the leftover fabric scraps sitting in my closet.
Do you have a million scraps laying around too?
All I need is 20″ x 20″ pieces or smaller.
I plan on adding a solid color to the back so that my fabric can make more pillows.

I also want to learn how to sew a pillow with piping.
It has been on my to-do list for a while.
I am going to follow this tutorial.
Hopefully I can use my leftover scraps to make at least 3 of my pillows.
I also plan on purchasing a couple floral pillows, unless you have a scrap you want to swap?
A scrap swap, seems like such a good idea…

Thrifty Tuesdays: DIY Ikea Rast Tables Complete!

My pulls for my dressers just arrived in the mail and I immediately put them on.
I decided to go with the ones I originally saw here.

If something works, why change it?
These beauties were $55.00 each.
And I sold my old nightstands for $100.00 total.
I think the extra $10.00 was worth it, don’t you?
I also wanted to share some of my favorite fabrics from fabric.com
I am really impressed with their selection.
I have a thing for blue and green lately.
I think I adore this combination.
Go here, here, and here.
I also wouldn’t mind this monochromatic combination since I am obsessed with blue!

Go here, here, and here.
Thanks fabric.com for providing a designer look for less!
