Best New Blogs Series

There are so many amazing design blogs out there.
I love it when I find a new blog to follow.
I thought it would be fun to highlight some of my newest reads.
First up we have Kimberly from Third Floor Design Studio.
Hi there! My name is Kimberly Moore. I’m a native of Seattle and will forever consider myself a “NorthWest Girl,” but after high school I moved to Utah for my undergraduate. I knew I wanted to pursue interior design {i’d always known} and thats what I did! Along the way I pursed my other passion, traveling, and found myself living in Spain and traveling all around Europe which only enhanced my love for good design. I created Third Floor Design Studio shortly before graduating and haven’t stopped blogging since!
My blog is all about design. It’s a compilation of my daily musings, a way to share the knowledge I’ve gained, as well as a place to show off a little of my own design work.
My design style is pretty contemporary — something between ZGallerie & Anthropologie. I’m not afraid to blend the old with the new and I love to mix and match!

My favorite design trend right now is, well, I had to pick two! Gold is definitely back and I hope it stays around for a while. It’s so warm and elegant. I’m also loving all things ombre! It’s super fun and just plain pretty. Here’s a little trend inspiration for you!

Cozamia Prints

Yesterday, Jillian Harris posted about the marble trend.
She included this picture from one of my designs.
How cool.
I always liked her. How couldn’t I?
She is a Canadian, from Alberta, and is an interior designer.
We are practically twins!
Speaking of art, I recently came across this artwork form Cozamia and couldn’t help but fall in love.
I think these prints would look amazing in almost any room.
I absolutley love the colors.
And this herringbone print would look great in my new office.
The prices are affordable too.
Just lovely.

Design Dilemma: Difficult Fireplace Wall

I am so excited about my new series, Design Dilemma.
Thanks to everyone that submitted their dilemmas, I definitely have my work cut out for me.
Now let’s get started.
What to do with the blank walls beside the fireplace?
The obvious solution is to add bookshelves to either side of the fireplace.
Unfortunately, the placement of her window makes this impossible.
Which means it’s time to get creative!
I wanted to create a focal point in the room.
I love the idea of adding wallpaper or a stencil to the fireplace wall.
I was inspired by this beautiful interior.
I selected this wall stencil.
It will create the look of wallpaper for a fraction of the price.

I also noticed that she had chairs placed next to the fireplace for extra seating.
These x-benches from Ballard Designs would look perfect placed on either side of the fireplace.
They can also be pulled out for extra seating when necessary.

I kept the solution simple so it will flow with the rest of the room.
I think it is practical, functional, and adds the right amount of personality to the space.

Do you have a design dilemma?
E-mail me photos and description of your dilemma!

Happy Weekend!

This week has been crazy.
I’ve got lots going on and plan on getting so much work done this weekend.
If only I had an office like this to work in…

One day I would love to have a big design studio filled with natural textiles and large workspaces.
That would be amazing.

It’s a good one, you don’t want to miss it!
