28 Weeks!

Today is a big day for the Oakey family.
I am now 28 weeks, which is a big milestone to meet in pregnancy.
Also, I have officially been on hospital bed rest for 4 weeks now…and my achy body is starting to feel it.
If you want to follow along my “exciting” hospital adventures, you can read all the details (and TMI) on my Bed Rest & Baby blog.
Now I am off to celebrate…well from my hospital bed that is!

Design Crisis Amazing Home Tour

I recently came across the blog Design Crisis and immediately fell in love with Erin’s style.
Her home is packed full of vintage treasures mixed with modern elements yet still feels clean and simple.
Not only does she have incredible style, she also is quite witty. My kind of girl.
You must see her family room before & after.
It is overly impressive.

I love how this space feels eclectic yet simple.

Oh, and her master bedroom before & after is a must see as well.

Love that nightstand.

She also achieves these incredible room designs on a budget.
Hard to believe right?
I swear she is the ultimate thrifter and also regularly uses Ikea!

How sweet is her baby boy’s nursery?
No words.

Ok, I think I have a girl crush.
You must head on over to Design Crisis, it’s too good not to!

Large Scale Lamps

I have a thing for large scaled lamps, especially when used on a nightstand.
Scale is one of the most important elements in interior design.
If your bed is large, your lamps should be as well.
In my opinion, these interiors from Lonny Magazine do it right.
I love these large and unique bedside table lamps.

Unfortunately lamps are expensive, and large lamps can be ridiculously expensive.
I’m on the hunt for a moderately priced lamp for a client’s master bedroom.
During my hunt, I have fallen in love with lamps that range from $150.00 to $700.00!
Although these three lamps aren’t considered inexpensive, they’re also not too bad considering their size.
Each one is above 30″ high and I love the classic shapes.

I really think a lamp can make or break a room.
Personally, I would be willing to spend a little more money to get the right scale and look.
How about you? Would you be willing to spend money on the perfect lamp?

New Blog!

I decided to start a new blog, Bed Rest & Baby, writing about my daily adventures on hospital bed rest.
I’ll still post small updates of my journey here, but I plan on keeping this blog mainly focused on interior design.
If you want all of the details (and I didn’t leave much out) about my current adventure, you will have to check out my new blog!
I’m hoping this will help keep everyone updated, and I am sure I will love reading it in a few years too.
Thanks for being so patient with me, I am finally getting the hang of this whole bed rest thing.
Also, today marks 3 full weeks of bed rest and I am officially 27 weeks!
It’s a good day.
Oh, and Happy Halloween!
