Baby Time!

Today is the day.
In less than 3 hours I will be arriving at the hospital for my scheduled c-section.
I am so excited to finally meet the little man that has consumed my every thought for the last 12 weeks.
I am also thrilled to say goodbye to bed rest!
I will be back soon to share pictures of baby Oakey.
Hopefully we will figure out a name in the next couple of hours…ahhh!
Also, you can follow me on instagram if you want a picture overload, my username is @danielleoakey.
Wish me luck 🙂

DIY Gallery Wall Art!

Yesterday I got the paints out so Em and I could create some art work for my hallway gallery wall.
In the past, I have given her a variety of paint colors and let her create.
Although I always find her work adorable, it usually turns into a brownish green masterpiece.
Since I knew I wanted to hang this piece in my hallway gallery wall, I specifically selected two colors, pink and gold.
I also gave her two paint brushes, one for each color. She loved having two brushes and it helped prevent the colors from mixing together.
I think it tuned out perfectly…
And I love how it fits in perfectly with my other pieces.
Now every time I walk through my hallway, I can’t help but smile.
I absolutely love having her original art pieces hanging in my home!

Baby Bump & Home Tour!

I hope you had a Merry Christmas!
I was lucky enough to get discharged from the hospital after 10 long weeks so I could spend the holidays at home with my family.
I could not have asked for a better gift.
I am now 35 weeks pregnant which makes every single minute of hospital bed rest worth it.
I have a scheduled c-section for Monday, December 31st, and I can’t wait to meet this little guy!
It’s a good thing delivery is only 4 days away, cause my belly is ready to pop!
I can’t wait to get up and moving again.
I have so many home projects that I am dying to complete.
Lindsay Mens Craig’s 800 square-foot apartment featured in Style at Home has me inspired.
I love her mix of pattern, color, and styles.

All of my Christmas decor is coming down today, I am anxious to get everything cleaned up and ready for the arrival of baby boy Oakey.
Only 4 more days…I can’t believe it!

$400.00 Kitchen Renovation!

I am so excited to share the after pictures from my sisters $400.00 kitchen renovation.
We started it together this summer while I was visiting Calgary, and she finally sent me pictures of it complete!
In order to keep the costs down, they completed all the work themselves.
I think they did such an amazing job!
Here is the kitchen before.
It was missing a broken pantry door and really lacked character.
In order to add some contrast and interest to the space we painted the cabinets, added trim to the island, added a large crown moulding to the top of the upper cabinets, and finally got the pantry door fixed!
The countertops, backsplash, wall color, and flooring all remained the same.

As you can see on the island, her husband simply added moulding to the base and framed it out with trim.
An inexpensive builder grade island now looks custom.
I think the added crown moulding to the upper cabinets transforms the kitchen and makes it feel so much larger.
She also changed out the broken glass on her original pantry door for a chalkboard. I love how it helps tie in her black appliances.
Here is the approximate breakdown of cost:
Paint: $120.00
Moulding: $120.00
Pantry Door: $60.00
Shelving: $50.00
Shelving accessories: $50.00
I still can’t believe it only cost $400.00.
What an amazing transformation.
