award and a little bit about me…

I have received the stylish blogger award from so many of you.
thank you so much, i am flattered!
now 7 things about me…
i was born and raised in canada.
i have dual citizenship and feel so lucky 🙂
i have 2 sisters.
i love having sisters and i talk to them everyday!
i graduated from byu-idaho with a bachelors in interior design in 2007.
the program was SO challenging but taught me everything i know.
i miss school.
i have plans to get my masters one day.
i met my husband in my 2nd year of college.
i was married at the ripe young age of 21.
i know it was only 5 years ago, but don’t we look so young?
we spent a summer living in cape cod massachusetts.
it was incredible.
we rented a small cape style home and had the time of our lives.
i dream of owning a home on the cape one day.
we welcomed our first baby in march of 2008.
she came 16 weeks early (24 weeks gestation) and weighed 1 pound 9 ounces.
we spent 3 months in the NICU.
it was a life changing experience.
my husband started medical school.
uggghhh, that’s all i have to say about that 🙂
i ran my first marathon last year.
i survived and consider it a miracle!
i now spend my days as a mom, part-time designer, DIYer, and i love it!
ok, maybe that was more than 7.
too much info?

what’s emory wearing wednesday

i couldn’t resist posting emory’s sunday outfit this week.
ruffled blue cardigan from children’s place $16.00, pink rosette shirt from joe fresh style $10.00, knit button up skirt from janie and jack $12.00 (on sale!), patten leather boots from joe fresh style, and flower headband from gymboree $5.00
sunday is my favorite day to dress up emory.
nothing like a little church girl.
especially with painted nails!
btw- stripes are painted…

thrifty tuesdays: stripes and a little help!

i love stripes.
i am crazy about striped walls.
i am thinking about painting black & white stripes in my daughter’s room.
i have decided on horizontal stripes, but black & white?
now this is where you come in….
i am always the one giving design advice.
this time i want to hear your opinion, all of you:)
emory’s room has a slanted wall which makes hanging art impossible.
although i love this architectural feature, it can be very frustrating to decorate!
here is the wall.
so far i have done nothing with it.
the right side (not showing) looks very empty, it needs something!
here are my thoughts:
1. i love stripes
2. i love black & white
3. i love chalkboard paint
the hardest decisions, what size? what color?
this bathroom is fabulous but i think the stripes are a little narrow.

i love the width of the stripes on the drapery.
still to narrow?
{image via here}
wow, i adore this living room.
the stripes make me so excited to get painting.
maybe a little wider?
{image via here}
these striped drapery have the perfect width.

here is the wall adjacent to the “striped wall.”
now the big question, stripes or no stripes?
black & white?
i can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

folding screen headboard

while searching ksl i came across this bamboo folding screen.
i can picture it spray painted in a glossy bright color and used as a headboard.
what an inexpensive way to spice up a bedroom.
there are some many things about this bedroom that i love.
the folding screen headboard is definitely at the top of my list.
{image via here}
the repeating star pattern on this headboard is perfect.
it also works great horizontally.

a folding screen headboard is fantastic but i ultimately love upholstered headboards.
how about an upholstered folding screen headboard?
yes please!
i love the height and print on this headboard .

the lines on this folding screen headboard are amazing.
white cotton trimmed with black piping, can it get any better?

jenny from the little green notebook posted a tutorial on a DIY upholstered folding screen headboard. (of course she did, what doesn’t that girl do?)

if i had another room, this would be my next project.
