Design My Entire Room Craigslist Style

Do you shop on Craigslist?
I have a straight-up addiction to that site, pretty sure an intervention is necessary.
Not only do I shop my local Craigslist, but I love to browse a variety of cities regardless of their proximity to me. Strange right? I just can’t help  myself.
The idea of creating an entire room strictly from classifieds sounds completely exciting to me. So, today I am starting with Salt Lake City Utah!
All the items below were found this week on SLC classifieds, all local, and of course no shipping necessary.
I just love how each piece has interesting lines, and there is a mixture of new, old, used, vintage, and modern.
The sectional is originally from West Elm. It has been used for less than a year looks to be in great shape. They are asking $1,500.00. You can find the ad here.
This persian rug is 9’x5′ and only $125.00. I love the colors and patterns.
These mid-century modern chairs are $100.00 each. Love the gray color and wood legs.
These white lacquer and stainless end tables are $169.00 and brand new. Pretty sure the seller is a store of some sorts, but I love the modern lines mixed with the Persian rug.
This antique coffee table is a little spendy at $450.00, but I just love the wood inlays.
Lastly these blue lamps are originally from Land of Nod. They are asking $120.00 for the pair. I love the blue!
You can get the entire look for $2,700.00 which isn’t the thriftiest of designs, but you are definitely getting higher quality (and avoiding shipping costs) when shopping second hand.
So what do you think?
Would you be willing to shop an entire room on Craigslist?
xo,

Love this series! and your design looks great, as always 🙂 I haven’t had any luck with CL since I’ve been in OH, everything is super expensive for some reason .. at least the thrift stores have been pretty good!

Great room, why don’t we have such finds here? Just like Sarah (in Ohio) I think our Craigslist prices in Richmond can run high. BTW, those mid-century chairs priced at $100 are a super-good price … just yesterday {really, truly} I purchased the same chair in mixed wheat tones at Homegoods for $179 and thought I was a pretty good shopper. They referenced 379 as a “list price”.

I’d say nearly my entire house is craigslist over the past ten years. Two years ago we moved to the OC, and I haaaaate the CL here. It is expensive, everyone labels their stuff as “midcentury” whether it is or not, and I’d say there is maybe a 15% knockoff from retail price, rather than the 50%+ I was accustomed to on the east coast. It is incredibly frustrating. There are some amazing things to be had, but they aren’t cheap deals.

I have to admit I don’t check out craigslist as much as I should, but, when I do, I admit its hard to get out of there!! I LOVE those chairs and the rug – all of it really. I was just reading UK House Beautiful and a couple have redesined their living room and bought all their stuff on ebay, which is another great source for decorating the house.
