The after is oh-so-good.
A little paint (and elbow grease) can sure go a long way.
I adore the blue base cabinets paired with the brass hardware. So so good.
I love how she removed a couple cabinet doors to create open shelving. It breaks up the heaviness and adds some much needed personality.
The countertops were the biggest splurge ($600.00) but the impact was well worth the money. She painted the cabinets and installed the subway tile backsplash herself!
In my opinion you can never go wrong with white subway tile and grey grout.
Love it.
Lee was kind enough to share all her sources with us, now we can get this look too!
Is that really the same kitchen?
I want to move in.
Thanks for sharing Lee, you are so talented!
Are you inspired too?
xo,

Holy crap that’s awesome! Love it
My thoughts exactly!
Thanks for sharing, D!!! The hardest part of moving out of our town house was leaving that kitchen! Onto the next kitchen remodel 😉
Thanks for letting me share! It is such an impressive renovation. You are the bomb.
Takes one to know one. I feel special to be on your amazing blog. Seriously!
That is so so good! Can she come do my apartment kitchen please???
Seriously! She has a magic touch I think!
I may have another comment waiting but not sure if I did it correctly :). I was wondering if the cabinets are wood? I have 90s laminate cabinets that are just terrible but I am living with until I have the funds for a real renovation. They are white and the upper cabinets have a shiny (thermafoil?) black strip on the bottoms. I love this look but I am afraid!! 🙂
I have asked Lee. Hopefully she will stop by and answer some questions, otherwise I will find out for you.
Hello! The cabinets ARE laminate. Here is the process for painting my laminate cabinets. They were a smooth laminate surface beforehand, with wood trim on the edges. I used Krud Kutter to rough up the texture a little, then applied a super awesome primer from Benjamin Moore, then painted thin coats (maybe 3 on the blue and 2 on the white) on the cabinets. Danielle has painted cabinets before and gave me a great piece of advice; wait at least a day between each coat to allow the paint enough time to cure in between coats. This means less chipping later. It sounds like this same process would work for you. I used a brush to put on the paint as a roller is going to make the semi-gloss finish look strange. If you are going for a satin finish, a roller might work, but ask your paint specialists. I love them at BM. Good luck!
Thanks Lee!
Thanks so much. I really love this and can’t wait to do it!
Wow!! We have (I think) the same kitchen cabinets. Ours have textured laminate on the front of the doors and this has been the largest obstacle to figuring out how to spruce them up! Do you know if those cabinets were textured, and if so, was anything special done to them before painting? I would love to know!
I have passed your questions onto Lee. We should have some answers soon!

Holy crow. That is amazing. Seriously. They must love being in there now. I remember having those before cabinets in my very first apartment.
So good right? They actually just moved out and rented this place (lucky renters!) and are onto renovating a new home! I can’t wait to see what she does.
SO good. I love the blue on the cabinets too and I’m totally bookmarking for when we buy our house and I know I’ll want to redo our kitchen!
It looks great! I love the blue she used on the cabinets, it really makes the space 🙂
Amazing! LOVE the blue on the bottom with the gold hardware!
