Sleep, Design, Wedding.

I’ve got 3 things consuming my life lately.
Sleep training, design work, and the planning of a wedding.
First, sleep training.
Theo turned 9 weeks today.
That means 9 weeks of waking up every hour or so. The poor little guy is not so good at sleeping. He suffers from reflux and has some serious gas issues, both of which aren’t helping the sleeping situation.
We have him on medications and probiotics, but I am really hoping he just grows out of it soon!
So my mommy friends, I would love to know when you started sleep training!
Once we get his stomach issues resolved I am ready to dive right in.
What age did you sleep train?
Second, I am finally back to working!
On Saturday I spent the morning helping a client style her bookshelves, we aren’t quite finished yet, but it sure felt good to be back at it.
I am finally accepting online design clients again,
I have a limited number of openings but E-mail me if interested!
Lastly, this May I get to be a bridesmaid in my high school friends wedding.
Her colors are mint, gold, and hints of pink.
I have been on the hunt for the perfect dress for weeks!
I so wish I could find this dress, but every time I find one similar, it is really short!

Any chance one of you would know where I could it?
Or do you know of someone local (Salt Lake City, UT) that could make it?
I woud love you forever!

Hi there, I had a a preemie so my situation was much different and due to her need to eat so often we couldn’t sleep train for quite some time. However, she also had acid re flux and we used the Nap Nanny. It helped her to stay up right and we let her nap in it, had play time and later as a young toddler she even liked to use it as a fort/slide/relax chair :-). Huge help to us. Good luck and remember everything (both bad and good) is a phase at this point….so you will before long get through this phase and be in a better spot!!

Hi, Danielle! I love that your name is Danielle {that’s my middle name} and your son is Theo and that’s what we call my son, whose name is Theron.

Anyhoo–about the sleep training…we started officially training him at 4 months because the internet made me feel so guilty doing it any sooner. We had to rock him or nurse him to sleep and then pray he didn’t wake up when we laid him in his crib. We eventually decided we couldn’t do it and went to CIO. He cried for longer than ” they” said he would and at 11 months old still cries for a couple minutes before falling asleep. Ultimately our kiddo is sensitive and cries a lot. He is a very high needs baby [he screamed all day for the first 6 or so months of his life and still is super moody]. He, too, battled silent reflux [which is definitely not so silent] and tummy issues so I can relate.

    Good luck to you!

All three of my kids at (coincidentally, not on purpose) 19 weeks. If you are doing methods that involve graduated extinction or CIO, they recommend waiting until 4 months. We are a family of Ferberers and I have found that they are usually ready (and so am I) between 4 and 5 months. GL!

Just buy a slip extender! I use them all the time, and they’re fabulous! I have a really cute lace one that extends the dresses a few extra inches, but online I bet you could get any color or fabric. Seriously, check it out:)

Hi Danielle, are you breast feeding!? Any caffeinated beverages or chocolate you eat can effect bubs belly and temperament ! His lack of beauty sleep doesn’t look to be affecting him! he is absolutely adorable!

Theo is SO adorable! I love the bookshelf you styled! I think mint green dresses will be so beautiful, but I imagine the would be hard to find. Sorry I’m of no help!

Oh and locally there’s a store call Francesca’s at the Gateway mall and Fashion Place mall that usually has some mint options!

The shelves look amazing!! I also had a reflux baby and the dr recommended I cut out dairy. It made a really big difference for us (although it was harder than I expected, thank goodness for vanilla almond milk). So if you’re nursing may be something to check into. Good luck I feel for you!

I know who could make it for you! Her name is Lilliya (sp?) and she owns an alterations/dress making shop right across the street from University Mall in Provo. Her background is pattern drafting–so she really knows her stuff! And she’s fast! Her contact number is: (801) 224-1911. She has the most fabulous Russian accent.

So sorry little Theo isn’t sleeping well! My daughter had colic and the nap nanny was a lifesaver for us. She started sleeping through the night at 5 weeks old, just a week after we starting using it. I’ve heard it’s also great for reflux as it’s designed to sit them up (and make them feel as if they are being held) instead of laying flat.

Oh, and we didn’t sleep train our daughter until she was a year old… first time Mommy mistake 🙁 I really wish I would have done it a LOT sooner because now when she is ready for bed all we have to do is lay her down. We followed the 15 minute rule – let her cry for 15 min., go in and comfort her, cry for 15 min., etc. It only took 2-3 nights and now works like a charm. Of course, it totally torn my nerves up and I’d keep my eyes glued to the video monitor the entire 15 minutes but in the end it worked out great. We used to have to work with her for an hour every time we put her down and then we’d have to be verrrryyy quiet and careful laying her down and sneaking out of the room.
