12 Days of Bed Rest!

I almost can’t believe it, I have been on bed rest in the hospital now for 12 days.
Although I can think of hundreds of things I would rather do, it hasn’t been too bad either.
Here is a little recap of my last 12 days…
1. My first cuddle with Em in my hospital bed. She was a little nervous to jump in, but now it’s a daily affair.
2. FaceTiming with Zack and Em in the morning. This helps me feel not so left out 🙁
3. I’ve learned the basics of crocheting, pretty proud of myself actually.
4. My IV was removed. Definitely the highlight of my first week…those darn things hurt so bad.
5. Playing scrabble with my Mom. She flew out from Canada and stayed for a week, I can’t thank her enough.
6. I started wearing regular clothes and make-up everyday. This seems to help me feel more normal and less like I am living in a hospital.
7. Em loves to come to my “new home” and watch cartoons after school. We don’t have cable at home so this is quite the treat.
8. My mom decorated my room for Halloween complete with a Happy “Halolween” banner. We quickly discovered that it is spelled wrong, but it has been a great conversation piece among the nurses.
9. Zack had to go to Los Angleos to take his last big test in medical school. I stayed in my bed (imagine that!)
10. Zack has been awesome at massaging my sore body parts. Surprisingly, bed rest makes everything ache. He also tried out my leg compression boots!
11. My room floods with sunshine every afternoon, I can’t complain about that.
12. I have been so spoiled with treats and flowers from friends, puts a smile on my face.
13. On Friday we had a family movie and game night. Em loved it and we all had a blast.
14. Saturday we had a small scare, I spent 7 hours in labour and delievery hoping to slow things down!
15. We managed to stop progression and I was returned to my room, thank goodness! Although I now have an IV again (boo!) I am very happy to still be pregnant!
16. Zack has done an incredible job being Mr. Mom. He has even learned how to round brush Em’s hair perfectly. What a stud.
This is by far my favorite pictures from the last 12 days…Em is just as impressed with her Dad’s round brushing skills as I am!
Today I am 25 weeks and 5 days. A full week more than when Emory was born. We are thrilled at my progress, but still hoping for at least a few more weeks!
I can only hope that the next 12 days will be as uneventful as the last…and that I won’t turn into a crazy person 🙂
If you have any great suggestions on good books, movies, television shows, or hobbies…I am all ears!
Happy Monday!

I can’t even imagine – i did 2 weeks of bed rest with my first and I thought I’d go crazy! Your attitude is so great! Do you watch Revenge – it’s a good one! I learned to crochet a couple years ago – there are tons of really cute patterns for things on etsy. Learn to crochet in the round and you can bust out some baby hats!

Wishing you all the best. I know how scary it can be facing early delivery and esp hard with your husband in med school during it all. My husband is a second year radiology resident…and I’m assuming yours just took step 2-I promise it is uphill from here! At least he now has the time to be a big help to you! I recommend reading the “fire and ice” books . The first one is The Game of Thrones, there is an hbo show based on them. There are 5 so far, they are all really long and very exciting. Should keep you plenty busy. Sending prayers your way.

Zack is a stud! My dad used to do my hair for me and I look back fondly on those memories. Your attitude is awesome…I’m sorry for your scare on Saturday, but you’re doing great! Every day and week are vital. I recommend reading Anna Karinena (over 1000 pages and yet it’s SOOOO enticing, keeps you reading. It’s free on Kindle or ask someone to pick it up from the library and bring it to you! Also, Suits (season 1 on DVD, I think, and season 2 is on Hulu.com) is such a good show. The characters hook you pretty fast! Lastly, you might want to try and practice some authentic meditation or even hypnosis. It makes time go by quickly and you can get some mind-body connections going to possibly send baby Oakey some “stay put and grow some more” messages 😉 love you!

Watch Friday Night Lights! It’s such an awesome show. I didn’t watch it when it was on tv but someone gave the complete series to us for christmas last year and both my husband and I were hooked!! You’ll want to watch one episode right after another. Great acting. Good storylines. Very entertaining! Stay positive! That’s the best thing you can do right now! Good luck!

Your positive attitude is infectious…writing (typing) the things you are grateful for is so powerful, and even if it’s the thing that helps you hold on to staying sane, you are inspiring each of US to say that things are good….that we are really blessed. Thank You.
    Sending the best your way,
    Tawna

I resisted watching Game of Thrones, it didn’t sound like my kind of movie, but it is fabulous. I loved Anna Karinena too.good luck to you. I hope your little baby stays put for several more weeks.

I would watch full seasons of great TV shows, Sex and the City, Revenge, 90210. Also, I would crochet or knit that bundle of joy a special blanket to keep forever. One that will always remind him of what a special mommy you are. Praying for you and your family. It seems that in times of struggle we begin to realize the important things like family time and just how much you are truly loved by friends and family. Stay sane girl! and pregnant!

I was in the same situation, 11 years ago! Now it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, but at the time, I seriously entertained thoughts of jumping out the window. Don’t be afraid to ask for mental help if you need it! I was too embarrassed, and then it was very hard for me to connect with my baby for a long time afterward.

Saving Cee Honeycutt (a book) really good! Gilmore girls and Felicity are oldies but goodies. Sherlock on netflix is also really good! Good luck and stay pregnant!!!

Girl, get and watch Seasons 1 and 2 of Downton Abby. You will not move. In fact, you may ask for a catheter so you won’t have to miss one second. Love it!

Here are some books I’ve recently read and would recommend: Bringing Up Bebe & The Happiness Project. Also watching seasons of Project Runway is fun. I also go onto HGTV.com to view whole seasons of my favorite shows :).

What a great collection of photos! Definitely tells a story! My book recommendation is Still Alice.. just finished and it was a great read. Do you watch Homeland? It’s soooo good!
Oh.. and how cute is her hair?

Wow- great job. Hang in there! Have you read divergent and insurgent? They’re dystopian novels (similar in genre to the hunger games)- you might’ve read them because they’re been out a long time… I can’t think of much else that’s a really great read though!

I did bedrest for 3 months, though mostly at home. At the time it seemed like the worst thing ever, but in retrospect my memories aren’t all bad. Watch tv shows; Friday Night Lights, Desperate Housewives, Downton Abbey, and Revenge are some of my favorites. Be sure to line up visitors for weekend nights and have your husband ask them to bring yummy meals. And buy lots of baby gear when you get really bored. 🙂

This is my first opportunity to visit this website. I found some interesting things and I will apply to the development of my blog. Thanks for sharing useful information.

Netflix is wonderful and you can watch on your laptop. I would suggest Parenthood, Modern Family, and Friday Night Lights. Also any of the Real Housewives are a good dose of non reality and filled with drama.
Hope you days pass quicklly and your baby boy stays put.
