Party Planning!?!

Tomorrow we are celebrating Emory’s 4th birthday.
She is completely obsessed with princesses and has been begging me for a princess party.
How could I not give her one?
I am feeling completely overwhelmed though.
The bar for kids parties seems to be set pretty high these days, especially in the blogging world.
And I am WAY behind in my planning/prepping for the party…ok, I haven’t even started!
My plan is to keep it simple yet magical, can it be done?

Here are my ideas so far:
*Ombre balloon wall
*Sword and crown sugar cookies
*Fruit kabobs
*Wand and sword party favors
*A wishing pond
So what do you think, good or no?
If you have any great and easy party ideas, I am all ears 🙂
Wish me luck!

Sounds super cute! As a mom of older girls now, I am so thankful parties were not that elaborate when mine were little. Don’t get me wrong, they had wonderful parties-usually centered around a theme, but most things were homemade…no elaborate invitation that had to be ordered weeks in advance. Family Fun magazine has great party ideas by theme. Most are simple and inexpensive.

I think it is perfect!! I love the balloon wall. Little effort but a lot of impact.

I’m not a parent yet but I often get roped into doing the decorations for the parties of little ones. I have a blast but I am amazed at how elaborate they have become over the years. Yes, it is fun for the blog readers but remember, at the end of the day as long as Emory has a smile on her face, you are doing an amazing job.

All of your ideas sound fabulous. I’m with you though…sort of over the whole craziness of kids’ parties. I had a big princess party for my daughter last year when she turned 5 and an am thinking of just doing a small/playdate sort of idea this year- I feel like my kids are at birthday parties every weekend…crazy!

this site has an easy decor idea: http://yvonnebyattsfamilyfun.blogspot.com/2010/12/disney-princess-party.html
write mirror mirror on the wall on one of your mirrors and move it to the party table. the site also has a frog and lips to print for pin the kiss on the frog if you are interested.

in an image on this page (tons of ideas and printables):

it looks as though someone made little crowns very simply by twisting pipe cleaners. soo inexpensive!
also made wands out of felt ribbon and dowels.
and it looks like there are printables for princess paper dolls and cupcake holders and picks.

Just a few ideas dont forget to check out Pinterest!!

Sounds like fun. My kids love doing arts and crafts. If you want to add an arts and craft element to the party? You could have the kids decorate their own crowns? You could precut the crowns from different color construction paper before the party and have a little station set up with bowls of glitter, pom poms, crayons, etc for them to decorate their crowns with.

Emory is going to remember that she was surrounded by her family and friends, not all the details. Don’t feel pressured by outside forces, live your best life…Emory is blessed to have you as a mom;)

Simple is always best. There can always be too much birthday and then the birthday girl can get overwhelmed. When my girls were little I made a princess cake- simply a bunt cake that was the ballgown skirt and a barbie in the middle of the “hole” of the cake.

Whatever you do will be fabulous!

I think its going to be great! I love the balloon wall idea. I’m in planning mode picking up a few little things here and there for our almost six year olds butterfly party. I’m keeping it simple too.

I love the idea of ombre balloon wall!!! And instead of fruit kabobs, a super cute idea we did at the baby shower I hosted was have fruit salad in waffle cones! Everyone loved it!! Can’t wait to see how it turns out! 🙂

I was going to say something about “Kiss a Frog” too! Just cut out a big posterboard frog, and have them pin lips on instead of a tail! Also, there is a yummy sounding recipe floating around pinterest for Princess Punch- I think it is sprite (or gingerale), pineapple juice, and strawberry icecream. I think I am missing something. But if you just search it I am sure it will pop up! It would also be fun to have princess and prince crowns for the kids! I like the idea of them making their own. You could just cut them out of posterboard and have them decorate! Ahh! So much fun!!! 🙂 Happy Birthday Emory!

I have to agree with so many above. While the parties on blogs now are gorgeous, I always wonder why they have to be so extravagant. Our strategy for the little ones includes “hunting” together a few days before for the perfect gift (one on one time), making the child’s favorite breakfast, and having only family come over to eat cake. I sometimes arrange for a play date a few days later, where I request those coming don’t bring gifts….and there’s always love and happiness around; not stress :). If you enjoy all of the details, go for it, though. (I’m a decorating that doesn’t decorate for birthdays I guess)…. Smiles!

Oh my goodness, this sounds fantastic! My son turns 4 on Monday and we are having a little dalmatian themed party tonight. Someone has been sick in my house for what feels like weeks. I definitely feel rushed and overwhelmed.

Your party sounds spectacular. I can’t wait to see pictures. I love the wishing pond idea.

Best of luck and have a great weekend!
