Change is good…

I am no stranger to change.
I love to switch up my home on a regular basis.
I finished Emory’s room last year and I love it.
Unfortunately she is getting bigger, her toys are getting bigger, and we need more space!
Since moving isn’t an option, we need to work with what we got.
Which means…goodbye double bed and hello loft bed!
I am 60% excited and 40% sad.
Her room was a labor of love, endless DIY projects, and thrifty finds.
I guess I am more attached to her space than I thought I would be.
So, with that being said, I am selling her headboard and nightstands.
The headboard is for a double bed.
Headboard: $50.00
Left nightstand: $50.00
Right nightstand: $60.00
E-mail me for more information!
Also, this month my mom is coming to stay for a week.
We plan on tackling Emory’s new room, I can’t wait.
So far this is our plan…
We are going to buy this loft bed from Ikea.
And drape the sides with fabric creating a tented play room.
New pillows, rug, and accessories.
She is also getting this vintage play kitchen for her birthday.
How perfect will it be in her new little play area?
Lucky girl.
Does change ever get you a little sentimental?

Lucky girl, indeed! I am always sentimental when we change up the kids rooms. For me, it means they are moving onto a new stage in their life and that their space needs to reflect that change. I was very emotional doing my son Elliott’s Room because the look was so grown up. Not little boy anymore!

I’m sure Emory’s room is going to look amazing and I’m looking forward to seeing the changes!

My daughter has the same play kitchen in blue. She loves it! It’s very well made. But word of (unsolicited) advice: the doors are very stiff to open (if that makes sense). We lashed that puppy to the wall because I was afraid that she had to tug so hard to open the various doors that the very well made (=heavy) kitchen would end up on top of her!

But we’re totally happy with it and so is she. And it’s so cute, too. (Like a far less expensive version of the also retro-styled Pottery Barn kids kitchen set. But I like this one even more)

I just had to weigh in. My daughter, also a preemie (2lbs 3oz) got the same kitchen, also in white, for her birthday last year. It’s been a hit ever since. My Dad says I nailed that present. It’s kind of diminutive in size, for a play kitchen, which is one of the reasons I love it so. No sticking or stiff doors on ours though as mentioned by a previous poster. I let our family know about it before her party and they were sweet enough to stock her up on cookware and pantry items. That girl makes a mean cup of coffee and chicken/hotdogs. Um, yeah, those are all together. We keep ours in the regular kitchen. I love to watch her play and it keeps her busy while I’m working. I can’t wait to see her finished room. Yay!

Every time we changed our girls rooms, it was hard. And now, one lives on her own but her room at home still holds many of her things from her days spent here as a child and teen. Our youngest will be off next fall to college, so I know her room too will change over the next few years. I am sure Emory’s new room will be better than ever!

Yes, change can be a drag, but I do LOVE that loft bed – I think I used it in a design project for school. Its so versatile and will give your little girl a nice little space to play with her new fancy kitchen!!! Love it! ;-))

Isn’t it amazing how attached we can get to a room? But oh my – it looks like she is going to get a bigger and better deal here! I bet she is getting excited over that kitchen – every little girl’s dream! Thanks for sharing and can’t wait to see the update. – Jalon

Oh, I love Emory’s room the way it is now, but I am sure whatever you do with it, it will be just as wonderful. I love the loft bed and that kitchen is adorable! She is going to be in heaven!

You’ll love the loft bed…I recently put bunk beds in my kids room and its amazing the room we have now, of course, for the toys! Change is fun, I’m in the final stages with their room, can’t wait to watch for Emory’s reveal.

You did an amazing job with her room but I can’t wait to see her new look! I’ve been toying with the idea of bunk beds for my boys but I just can’t commit yet. I had a slight (OK major) sentimental issue with my bed frame. It was LOVELY but WAY to big for our room. I almost cried when the buyer came to pick it up 🙁 Try to have fun with the new makeover. She will LOVE it 🙂

The room is going to be so fun! I know you’re sad to see it go, but I’m thrilled to see another room you’re creating! My son recently rearranged his room and I was shocked at how attached I was to the way I had it. :/ why do they have to grow up and get opinions?!? 😉
