Remember how I was taking an online class from the Alt Channel?
Well it was last week and I loved it.
The class I took was called Growing Your Readership taught by Nicole Balch from Making It Lovely.
In the class we watched a live video feed of Nicole discussing blogging tips on growing your readership.
There was also a live chat session allowing the participants to talk during the class.
Nicole gave a short powerpoint, here are a few of my favorite tips she shared:
1. Orignal content
* Use your own pictures
*Create unique post lay-outs
2. Tell your story
*Share your life story
*Show-off your talents
3. Have consistency
*Make a schedule and stick to it
*Find a good rhythm
*Keep it consistent so your readers know what to look forward to.
4. Social Media
* Embrace Facebook, Twitter, Instagram!
*Post a mixture of personal and professional
At the end we got to ask her questions, it was awesome.
Not only was it packed full of good information, it was also a great way to connect with other bloggers.
I definitely think it was worth the $15.00 registration fee.
I am hoping to sign up for a couple more.
Have you had a chance to take a class yet?
Yes! I’m taking one later today: “Getting Your Blog or Shop Noticed”. I’ll let you know how it goes!
Still want to take a class. I was out of town for this class but looking to register very soon! Such a great way to connect with other bloggers while still learning a lot about how to do this thing with excellence 🙂

I am semi-new here in blogland (Nov 2011) and would love to learn more about this cyber-world… I am enjoying my time here and want to grow and improve (a personal ‘fault’ of mine!) Thanks for sharing… have a terrific Thursday
Thanks for the review, Danielle! I didn’t even realize there were online classes until you mentioned it!
I took it also, was a bit distracted with last minute event work that came up. But I am taking another one today! Love them, so helpful.
Thanks for the recap! I will definitely be taking an online Alt class soon!
I wanted to take one, but they were all offered while I am at work (I’m in eastern standard time) so thanks for sharing some of what you took away from yours!
I think they are offering some night classes now, maybe one of those will work!
Took one today! Can’t wait to look back at the chat…lots of undiscovered (to me) blogs
Which one?
Danielle- i took the class on advertising with liz stanley last night. it was AWESOME! Say Yes to Hoboken is one of top five fav blogs, so getting to chat online with her and ask questions was kind of a dream. i learned so much in just one hour. signing up for another class in march!
Good to know, I wanted to take that class!
I took Holly Becker’s Decor8 ‘Blogging Your Way’ class a couple of years ago…I still have very little readership and find the competition very ‘stiff’ out there in blogland…its frustrating for me but I love blogging so I just keep plugging away…your class sounds very interesting though…;-))
Blogging can be so challenging, it requires SO much work to get your blog noticed! I feel the same frustrations sometimes!
I’ve been very curious about these classes. So glad you shared, Danielle!
I was in the same class with you Danielle! I also took the one on Advertising yesterday and signed up for the Analytics one next week. Always pick up one or two little nuggets of info.
hi–i am wondering if you are currently accepting e-design clients? if you are could you email me at starrphotography@sbcglobal.net? thank you 🙂
This sounds so awesome! I would love to sign up for a class!
