Yesterday after reading Cassie’s post, I was feeling crafty (and a little guilty about being a halloween hater).
Well I don’t hate halloween, I just don’t love the decorations.
Now that Emory is getting older, I need to embrace Halloween.
I don’t typically try my hand at small crafts.
I like bigger projects like headboards, painting furniture, and sewing pillows.
So I got on Pinterest and started looking.
These paper mache pumpkin lanterns from Martha Stewart seemed perfect.
They are simple and give off a nice glow.
I will spare you all the frustrating details but they didn’t turn out.
Not at all.
And now I am left with these beauties…
Hahaha!
The orange pumpkin turned out the best.
I can’t even claim it, my friend did it.
No offense to her, but it is still pretty lame looking.
I should of started with a simple craft.
Oh well, maybe next year Emory will get some Halloween decor.
Have you had any project fails lately?
I agree – craft projects always are harder than they seem! how about a big wooden bowl or basket filled with real pumpkins and gourds? Beautiful and natural (and easy!). Good Luck!

Glad to know I’m in good company! I could write a book about my failed projects! 🙂
Oh no!!! But excuse me, did you not see my post about the Missoni glasses…that I completely ruined by putting them in the dishwasher! Martha would have never done that!
Get thee to the dollar store for gauze and googly eyes, you can’t mess up the mummy lights! 😉
And per usual, I’m going overboard on the random holiday and my house is getting fairly hosed down with bones and black crows. :/
Good for you for trying! I have don’t a darn thing!!
I’m glad to know there is someone else out there who is not really into Halloween decorations. I feel like such a bad mom sometimes, because my kids love Halloween, but I just can’t get into it!
Good for you for trying a new craft! And yes, Martha makes everything look easy…and in my experience, it never really is!
Bahhahahaha! Thanks for posting a project fail! We bloggers always want everything to seem so perfect. These ‘pumpkins’ certainly put a smile on my face today.
You should try Cassie’s gauze mummy craft! That one looked pretty simple (and cute).
I have yet to have any successful crafty endeavors. I can paint and reupholster furniture, but anything that might be featured in a Martha Stewart magazine is something I will fail horribly at.
I am not a seasonal decorator, either.
I just had some real pumpkins with painted faces .. don’t really like halloween decoration neither.. thanks for your honesty! BTW your home is now published at The Purple Bow Blog 😀 thanks a lot Danielle!
Oh my goodness I love this!!!! This makes me laugh because nothing will ever be perfect this happens to me all the time! Really it was fun probably doing it even as frustrating as it is when it doesn’t work out 🙂 How cool!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!!!
I love DIY flops! Did you ever see my whirl-it pendant? It takes the cake:) At least we can laugh!
UGH I swear NONE of my projects are turning out right now. I think I’ve painted the top of my little table ten times and I still hate it lol
