I haven’t shared many pictures of my kitchen with you.
Mainly because I am stumped.
When we first moved in, I painted the cabinets, walls, and changed out the floors.
Since then I have not done much.
Although I like the decor in a kitchen to be simple, I think mine is missing something.
I purchased this rug from Urban Outfitters for $34.00 thinking it would add a little life to my kitchen.
I love this rug, just NOT in my kitchen.
Now back to the drawing board…
Maybe a wall stencil instead?
What is your vote?
Would you go with a different rug or a wall stencil?
I would love to hear your thoughts!

I think rug for sure but just not that one! I think your kitchen is so simple and sweet! I just love it!
I like the idea of a rug to add some warmth and softness to the room. You’r kitchen is really cute! I’m glad you shared the photos as it’s nice to see smaller, ‘real’ kitchens sometimes.
I agree, I think a rug would be nice. Just a matter of finding the right one that does’t compete with the checkboard flooring. Maybe an overall bold floral. I like that it is small, clean and simple…so I would vote no to the wall stencil.
I think think the pattern on this rug competes with that great floor, and a stencil might do the same. Maybe a solid rug in a punchy color?
I love the idea of a rug but think it should be a solid in a great colour. Love love what you’ve done in your kitchen- the cabinet colours are fabulous and I love a checkered floor!!
I love the floor, but I think the patterned rug is too much for it. I’d go solid, or maybe a DIY chevron rug in the same colors as your EAT letters?
your floor its beautiful, but the rug dont match :S
loveeeeeee yout kitchen 🙂 so pretty !!

I also think you should get a rug but maybe something in a vibrant solid that pops and more like a runner.

I LOVE Black and White kitchen floors! I agree with the comments that you should try a different rug – maybe a circle rug that has red and light blue in it, play off the wall art and the cabinet color.
What about changing out your knobs for fun ones for some color and added zing?
I think it definitely needs a rug. I also agree with Elisa about the knobs. Some colored glass knobs would be great!
Oooh…. I’d do both! Simple run and bold stencil on the wall. It’d give it that unexpected touch and bam! a bold kind of amazing design. That’s just me, though. Good luck deciding! Found you through Danika’s blog and had to stop and say hello. I’m now your newest follower!
Much Love,

cute kitchen! i would totally go with the rug, just a solid color. a stencil might compete with the floor.
Thank you for sharing that not everything is perfectly designed and styled in your house. 🙂 Although, it is pretty cute. But you are right… a different rug or I like a little pattern on the walls these days, so a stencil may be perfect!
I think both would look awesome! If you went with a really simple stencil and a simple coordinating rug it would pull everything together! Good Luck…. your kitchen is darling 🙂
Love the idea of a rug but I think that one competes too much with the checkerboard floor. I think something similar in tone to the EAT letters would be great, maybe with a fun fringe in a bold yellow? You’ve got a great vintage vibe going on.
I love the floor and the rug, but maybe not together!
I see that wall as being the focal point in the room rather than a rug on the floor. I was thinking that you could put a bold fabric on that wall with starch to bring in some color. I did this technique in my pantry and it was easy and the best part temporary. I see from your house tour you like a punch of bold, and this would blend with the rest of your house {which by the way is gorgeous!}
nice ......
Looks great!
I am facing a similar dilemma with out kitchen. By looking at your kitchen, it seems to me that it is too white. I would consider painting the walls a fresh color, like a sunny yellow, BM gray owl, or perhaps a light sage color. I think the rug looks great! You just need to tie it in to the rest of the room somehow – perhaps by painting the walls. Just my 2 cents.
