Yard Sales

I have a big obsession with yard sales.
I blame it on my mom, many saturdays from my childhood were spent attending yard sales.
It is almost impossible for me not to stop.
An addiction really.
Even though I go regularly, I am really picky.
I am looking for a great find, not junk.
Most the time I find nothing, but last saturday I snagged 2 beautiful ceramic lamps.
I got them for $3.50 a piece.
boo-ya!
They are a beautiful milky blue/green.
And they kinda have a faux bamboo look to them, love it!
I am still debating where they will go but I am loving them on my bedroom dresser.
Obviously I need to get some lampshades, but aren’t they beautiful?
So what are your thoughts on yard sales?
Do you go?
Are you obsessed like me?

I used to go to them all the time…every one Id see(afterall, you never know til you look right?) But I was bringing home too much STUFF. So last summer I swore them off. This summer Ive gone to a few but theyre the huge, neighborhood wide ones where you park and get a great workout. I now limit myself to looking for awesome finds(like you) and its paid off well:)

I get very discouraged at yard sales: seems they are mostly children’s clothes and toys, old luggage and not very great kitchen utensils! Maybe I’m in the wrong neighborhoods! These are great; and can’t wait to see the shades you use…

I am an avid garage-saler. I’m like you – I’m picky. I’m not about to spend money on something I don’t need! (I use kijiji to find sales and only go to the ones I find interesting!) I have found some of my favourite pieces at garage sales! (Estate sales, too!) There are so many hidden gems!

Nice find! I can’t drag myself outta bed early on Saturdays so no yard sales for me. Although there is one that I go to every year and always find some sweet stuff. But other than that, it’s thrift stores for me:)

    They are beautiful.

I always vow to go to garage and yard sales but I haven’t done so! I think its because I feel that our car is too small.. but that’s silly, since we CAN fit a lot of stuff! Plus, I’m scared that I won’t find anything good and hurt people’s feelings. Silly me…

wow I love those! The color is so great with what you’ve got goin on in there. I love yard sales but don’t go hardly ever…
Having an impatient toddler kinda ruins your plans~!

I love yard sales too! I’ve found some really great pieces over the years. I’ve been looking for a lamp for my entry, and you’ve inspired me to stalk my neighborhood for yard sales! 🙂

I’ll admit I’ve become a little bit of a yard sale snob…now I’m all about estate sales!!! I have gotten some great stuff, my husband got me hooked. We almost never pass a sign without stopping! Love them!!

Love your finds…I recently found a lamp, too and paid only 2 bucks for it. It has a glass base, which is kinda trendy right now, but has brass accents, so I’m just gonna spray paint those. I LOVE yard/tag/garage sales, too. I think the challenge for me is that I sometimes underestimate the amount of work something will take to get it looking great. I may get a great deal upfront, but end up having to sink some cash into it to get it fixed up.

I’m addicted to yard sales too but it’s been a while since I’ve found anything decent (lots of junk that I wouldn’t even donate to Goodwill!). Your lamps are great – just the sort of thing I’ve been wanting for our bedroom 🙂

Yes! I went to them with my mom too and the Goodwill and Saint Vincent DePaul stores! But I agree, I cannot just get “stuff” – I have no room for that. So funny, I am looking for new-to-me lamps also and those would be perfect. I would probably paint them black, but they are perfect in your room. Good snag ;o)
