A couple weeks ago I selected a variety of wallpapers for my clients powder room.
Of course, we were both drawn to the most expensive options.
Although wallpaper is fabulous, we talked about stenciling.
She was hesitant and worried that her powder room would look like something straight out of the 1990’s!
So I sent her a couple of inspiration pictures…
She was amazed.
We still haven’t decided on our direction but stenciling is definitely an option.
So, what would you do?
Would you use a stencil instead of wallpaper?
i LOVE stenciled walls! Question: can you do this on flat concrete too? Or do you think it wouldn’t look “clean” enough?
(desperately finding something to do with my ugly concrete basement wall…) 🙂
I would definitely use a stencil. If down the road you are ready for a change, it is much easier to paint than strip wallpaper.
I had the exact same experience with a client last week. Wallpaper is so expensive so she’s going with a stencil.
great inspiration pictures!
ooh, i love this idea! i’ve been thinking about wallpaper for my entry for a while…now i may break out a stencil! thanks 🙂

Would definitely do stencil. I am considering for one of the rooms in my home.
I JUST posted my dining room stencil project this morning. I was craving some wallpaper but couldn’t stomach the price tag. It was totally worth it! I spent only $15 and used paint pens for fine lines instead of actual paint.

I love stenciled walls, they are a great affordable option for someone who doesen’t want to spend the money on wallpaper.

Love that entryway! I’m thinking about getting a stencil for our bathroom–I’m totally diggin’ the look right now. Plus, it’d be much easier to paint over than to remove wallpaper.
Mmmmm…. I love the pattern of those orange patterned walls. Orange certainly wouldn’t fit our style, but in another tone – I love it!
Oh my gosh stencil for sure!! Anyone who has ever removed wallpaper will be with me! Yuck, I pray i never have to do it again!
Stencil!! It’s easy to paint over when you get sick of it! I’m so guilty of getting sick of things fast!!
I love stencils! They have definitely come a long way, I think they’re a great alternative to wallpaper! Thanks for the inspiring pictures.
Not a big fan of wallpaper! And stencils have certainly come a long way…so yes, go for it!
Stencil! They have come such a long way. I just finished stenciling my laundry room and LOVE the end result.
I’m planning a stenciling project for Eisley’s new big girl room. I think it’s a great option and I don’t have to deal with the hassle of putting up wallpaper! I already tore it down in spades with this house.
definitely planning on a stenciling project soon! and YES to stenciling over pricey wall covering.
Absolutely!
I am in LOVE with stencil right now! It still looks like wallpaper but its MUCH cheaper! I just stenciled a bathroom…. here is the link…. and I love it!
