Silk Flowers?

Now that the flowers are starting to bloom in Utah, I have the flower itch.
I wish I had a backyard full of tulips, hydrangeas, and peonies.
If I did, I would have fresh flowers in each room.
I think they add the perfect finishing touch to every room.
With flowers, you can introduce an unexpected color to a room and it works.

I just love the how they add a feminine flair to a space.

Although I would LOVE to have fresh flowers in my home all year round, it just isn’t realistic.
My mom has been known to use silk flowers in small doses, I personally like it.
What about you?
Would you consider using silk flowers?

I don’t think I could go silk flowers, however, every time I make a similar statement, I see something that someone has done that completely changes my opinion! But, I think I must keep true to real flowers and live plants! I love love love them in all rooms.

I am oh so fortunate to live where there are gorgeous fresh flowers almost all year…at the farmers markets (of which there is one almost every day around here!) or in my garden. And, of course, there is always Trader Joe’s! But yes, I think silk, or any “faux” flower is just fine also….anything in good taste is always fine! Pottery Barn has some really nice looking hydrangeas, and I think Anthropologie has some too; just stay away from JoAnn or Michaels!

I have used them in the past, although not a huge fan due to dust allergies. But, there are so many realistic ones on the market right now. I am fortunate to have a backyard full of flowers this time of year.

I am usually very picky about silk flowers. They’re meant to look realistic, and most of the time, they just don’t. I’m considering putting a few pom and flower tutorials to the test, though. I think they’d give a cuter and more crafty impression than most store bought silk flowers, and you don’t have to pay that much attention to care like you do real flowers. In fact, my latest post features four of my favourite DIY pom and flower projects! Maybe it’ll help strike some creativity? Thanks for the post!

I love flowers, but totally agree that it’s hard to afford them regularly. Instead, I rely on houseplants which really add a living element to most rooms in my house. I’ve never tried silk, but perhaps if the right one came along…

I usually have real flowers in my kitchen throughout the spring/summer. I find it hard to keep up with having them throughout the house though…so I do have a few silk Gerbera Daisies in tall vases upstairs in the bonus room. I think the key is not to overdo it!! BTW Danielle I love this blog!

Yes, I use them and it doesn’t bother me at all. I can’t afford to buy them fresh every week and I’m like you, we don’t have any fresh flowers anywhere near us blooming!

I think silk flowers look great as long as you pick high quality ones. I used them in the display home I just finished because you can’t put real flowers in a display home for everyday use, and its nice to have some greenery still! I think branches tend to look more realistic than flowers too.

I love the look of fresh flowers and would have them in every room if I could. I do use silk flowers — there are the super tacky silk flowers and the nicer ones out there(of course I go for the latter)!

Ick. You can always find a great bunch of fresh flowers even at the grocery store. I’d rather have a small bunch of real flowers any day.

I personally prefer real ones which you can see the change of shapes everyday.

By the way I’m going to paint my furniture soon and looking for a paint, the same colour as the wall in the first picture of this post…

Does anyone know which paint brand and which colour would be most similar? Any advice would be much appreciated… I’m looking for ages and still can’t find the right one!
