a long night…

We had a little scare last night.
Emory has been sick with a fever and a cough for the last couple of days.
Around 7:00 pm I was just about to put her to bed.
I gave her some Triaminic (Tylenol), washed her face, and then washed my hands.
As soon as I finished washing my hands, I notice that her face was full of Triaminic again.
I hadn’t put the lid back on and she drank it!
I felt sick.
I called poison control and they said we needed to go in.
We had to wait until 11:00 pm to go to the ER in order to get an accurate blood test.
She was sick and tired, poor thing.
Getting the blood drawn was very dramatic.
She did not like it one bit.
We then had to wait, and wait, and wait.
Luckily the test came back normal.
She must not of consumed enough, what a sigh of relief!
I definitely won’t be getting the mother of the year award anytime soon…
Back to design.
I am guest posting over at Simple Dwellings today
I am participating in her “if my blog was a room series.”

IT could have happed to anyone! My nephew got into my advil one time.. I’ve never felt so terrible in my life! I’m sure you are a great mom and don’t forget it

Scary! I am glad she is okay. Don’t worry… I always view things like this as a scary lesson, but one that had to be learned to avoid a situation which could have been much worse.

Poor momma (and sweet baby too)! Girl, we have ALL been there. I had the same gut wrenching feeling when I thought I had a hand steady on my 9 month old and reached to get a diaper on the side of the changing table….and boom, she was on the ground. How she landed on her hands and knees was an angel from above I’m sure of it. I bawled, called the pediatrician AND made my husband come home from work. We all make mistakes. I’m SO happy she is fine and I hope you are fine too! I really love your blog and it is one of my daily reads! (hooray for naptime, right?) xoxo Shelli

There’s nothing worse than a sick baby! If it makes you fell any better, I have had to call poison control not one, but THREE times because my younger daughter has a talent for finding and eating all kind of gross stuff.

    So glad everything is okay.

My daughter had to have blood drawn several times at the same age: oh the times we had! She broke nurses nails (that was a cute scene!), pulled tubes out, almost hyperventilated etc. To this day, twenty years later, I think that is her worst nightmare: the blood test! But it’s so hard on the parents. Glad all is ok!

These things happen so easily to us well meaning mommas. It’s tough to take at the time but these little hints of trouble make us much stronger and able to deal with the challenges parenting throws our way. Glad she’s doing well after all that!

Oh Danielle, how terribly traumatic for her and YOU! I’m so sorry! I’ve definitely one my fair share of “mother-of-the year” awards for these type of things so don’t beat yourself up about this! Things happen! Thank G-d your gorgeous little girl is fine.

what a horrible scare, but I’m so glad everything is fine!!! guilt just comes with the job of being a mother…if it weren’t over this, it’d be something else! don’t be hard on yourself…I’ll bet it never happens again! I can’t tell you the number of ‘mistakes’ I’ve made in the last 10 years of raising my kids!!!

that’s what therapy is for…20 yrs from now for them! 😉
