On Saturday I took a trip to my local discount fabric store.
I wanted fabric to re-upholster my ottoman.
Our ottoman seems to need re-upholstering about every 5 months thanks to the little one 🙂
Fabric shopping with a 2-year-old is not fun.
Do you see her in the corner? and she’s off…..
Regardless, I still managed to find some keepers.
They have plenty of the blue & white ikat fabric that I used in my master bedroom.
I absolutely love it and I think it is only $7.00/yard!
I fell in love with this brown and white dotted fabric.
It kind of reminds me of the fabric used in this room designed by Tommy Smythe, in a $7.00/yard kind of way.
Luckily, I only needed 1 yard.
$7.00 for a new look, not bad.
My joy was quickly destroyed when I realized Emory had an accident, #2.
I headed to the till (flustered), got my fabric cut, and went to pay…
And my wallet was missing.
I knew I had to come back, what a pain!
The lady behind me noticed my situation
She quickly offered to pay for my fabric.
Of course I refused but she insisted
She called it her good deed for the month!
I am determined to do at least one good deed a month.
Who’s with me?
Oh my goodness, I absolutely LOVE that fabric- so fabulous!!! And love that a good deed came with it- great story!
How sweet is that!? Yes, I am with you on the once a month thing. When in the drive through at Starbucks, I often will pay for the person’s coffee behind me…I know maybe not ground breaking, but I’d like to think I would make someone’s day.
By the way, LOVE the fabric!
First of all, I love the fabric that you chose. Since you are Canadian, do you know of any discount fabric chains. I only know of Fabricland, but they definitely don’t have fun prints like the spots and ikat ones you found. Or maybe I’m not looking hard enough.
Second, that was so sweet of the lady to buy it for you. As 17 Perth said, I have heard of people paying for the person behind them in the Tim Hortons drive-through and I think it’s just the sweetest thing!
How lovely! All it takes some days is a little act of kindness 🙂 And your ottoman looks fab too!
Great story. I have paid for the customer behind me in the drive thru of Starbucks a few times. I love the ottoman, great fabric choice.
I’m with you on the good deed once a month! That sweet lady must be a mom:). I can totally relate, the whole..crap, now I can’t think straight and I’m starting to sweat thing. You are too cute! LOVE the new ottoman!
Love the new fabric, but love the story behind it even more! What a sweet thing for her to do. What a great idea to aim for one good deed a month…I’m in!!
That is EXACTLY the type of fabric I’ve been looking for, for my ottoman (the dotted)!
That ottoman is FABULOUS. Perfection.
love the ottoman & what a sweet lady!!
love the fabric and am totally with you on the good deed a month thing…
I’m with you for sure! And what a sweet sweet lady…little does she know that so many people are praising her good deed! Love stories like that!!! Hope Emory is wearing something fun tomorrow!
Aww, what a sweet story… and I love the fabric. Can’t wait to see the ottoman. Yes, it’s very much like the fabric on the chair in the photo.
That is an awesome ending to your story! I remember those days! Sweet find. And yes, I want to know of any discount fabric chains in Canada, Fabricland is usually a miss!
Love the ottoman!
Love your fabric choices! Just perfect. Glad it all worked out in the end.
I love Tommy’s apartment! It looks really great. I think it’s fun that you recover it that often.. fun change! Also, I cannot believe that that fabric is only 7.00 for the ikat. I may just die of jealousy….:)
Don’t worry Danielle- I’ve definitely had those kind of days too! Good deads are great! That was so nice of her to do that! And the ottoman is beautiful- great job! 🙂
Whoops! I meant to say “deeds” not “deads” See- one of those days! 🙂
Oh that is beautiful! I am sure if you were in the same situation you would have done the same XX Samantha
What a kind and understanding woman, who has obviously been in your shoes I’m sure! Love the fabric!!
Looks fabulous in a leopard kind of way and yes, I’m with you – how about paying the toll for the person behind you or buying a coffee on line at a cafe? great idea! what a nice lady you encountered!
First, the ottoman looks amazing! Love that fabric choice! And how sweet is the lady behind you in line? Such a great story!
Ooh I love the ottoman too! Cute cute. Thanks random lady!! 🙂 So sweet.
It looks fantastic! Great choice! Miss Walker xoxo
What great prices on fabric!! I so wish we had discount fabric stores near me!! The ottoman looks darling
this is just weird!!! i went to hancock this weekend and brought samples of that blue ikat home!!!!????!!?? (i’m putting DR drapes on hold, tired of waiting for something to speak to me)
what a sweet gesture by that woman. I was at the food court last weekend and a lady was counting her pennies to get a cherry limeade at Sonic…never one to deny anyone their Route 44, I handed her money. Felt amazing! And better yet, it was a great witness to my kids (who gaped at me!)
im trying to find that blue ikat fabric. any ideas? maybe some were online?
nice job......
