yesterday i completed my DIY skirted desk!
i really feel like my office is starting to come together.
the skirt was simple but time consuming.
it took me about 4 hours.
supplies:
*3 yards of fabric (i decided not go to with the burlap)
*1 pkg of quilt binding (3 yards)
*velcro
*glue gun*
sewing machine
*iron
tutorial:
1. measure length and width of desk and cut fabric into 3 appropriate sizes.
2. iron fabric
3. sew hems on all 4 sides of each fabric piece
4. lay flat the front fabric piece
5. cut and lay-out quilt binding in desired design.
6. iron quilt binding pieces
7. place ironed quilt binding on front piece.
8. glue quilt binding to fabric.
i then adhered pieces of velcro to the desk and the fabric.
it seems to be holding perfectly and can easily be removed.
total cost: $14.00
$4.00 over budget, oops!
so here is my office $32.00 ago:
and after a couple coats of paint, DIY sunburst mirror, and a DIY skirted desk:
so much better!
i also hung a yellow mirror i wasn’t using behind the computer.
i am thinking of making it a cork board.
the next project on my list…
i still plan on keeping them as file storage but i need something with a little more style.
maybe stripes?
900 sq. ft at it’s finest, yes that is my front door 🙂
happy february!
I love the navy and sunny yellow! It would definitely make me happy to work in your space! Love it.
nice! i really like that pillow…i need it for my 2nd bedroom. i’ll be starting that project soon. now if only i didn’t have to go to work…haha.
It is a very nice looking 900sf though! The navy looks really nice, and the fireplace is so much brighter. Great job!
i love the skirt! i wish i was more crafty.
It turned out really great! I can’t wait to see the chair painted! I would love to do some work in your office!
I love it!! It looks great and I love the pops of yellow.

It looks awesome!! You seriously have the best DIYs!
That look fantastic! And by the way, I’m insanely jealous you have a fireplace by your desk. I’m always so cold in my “office.”

Wow Danielle, the desk looks great! I tried doing something similar to cover my hideous TV stand, but it turned out all wrong! Ha ha

Your office looks great. The desk skirt really adds to to the room!
I love how this turned out. It adds so much to the space. It might not be a huge room, but it is bursting with character. That fireplace is so great.
Wow! It turned out great! I love the color combo as well. Can’t wait to see what you do next!

Looks good! I just covered my desk, but at $0 cost – I used fabric from Israel and literally just covered it, no sewing! You can see it on my guest post here: http://www.elcestockholm.blogspot.com
I will also post a photo to my blog soon…:))
PS: my desk is really unattractive!
PSS: I should say I covered it with fabric I already own…:0

Me likey!!! Great job! I’ll do anything to hide cords from electronics so I might end up doing this the next time I have something sneaking around the walls that shouldn’t be showing.
