i made our living room pelmet box last year.
total cost: $22.00
it was really easy.
i followed this tutorial from little green notebook.
the pelmet boxes in her girls bedroom look amazing!
perfection, don’t you think?
i wanted our drapery to hang floor to ceiling but the vertical blinds caused a HUGE eye sore.
that bar, yuck!
i wanted to remove the blinds altogether but we use them.
so for now, i need to work with them!

i changed my curtains a couple months ago.
now i think it’s time to recover my pelmet box.
i am thinking a dark solid with light trim.

what would you do?
would you change it?
You’re mind blowing. Seriously? I wish we lived close by, I’d be soliciting your help for everything. Well, I guess it’s good we don’t… 😉
Cannot believe you made that yourself. I am so impressed. I like the idea of something simple. I gut reaction is grey with grey trim to match the curtains
WOW!
i heart your chevron curtains! I would keep it just like that! no changes =)

I need to make pelmet boxes!! they make such a difference!
And I think you should just stick with what you have for now. I love the way it looks already!
I can’t believe you made that! I like what you have right now, but maybe add a solid trim in a contrasting color to it.
I like the way the two patterns work together! Keep it!
No question: keep them!! I’m so impressed!
I like your idea of switching it up with a solid. All your patterns work well together but sometimes you can have too much of a good thing. I’m no designer but from my art classes I learned sometimes the eye needs a place to rest. So go for the solid!!
I had no idea that’s what those were called. Hmm, you learn something every day 🙂 I think it looks great!
Wow! Well done- I love the pelmet box! I think I’d do a solid grey and maybe add some white trim. The shape of it is fantastic!
I also like the idea of a solid although I think you did a fab job!
i really love this…its very well done the patterns go fab together too..very tallented x
That looks awesome! Love it! Solid would make a good change- maybe pin a solid colour up and see if you can live with it? Samie
Ya I wouldn’t change a thing! it’ looks great the way it is!
Luvs!
Well, I hear ya girlfriend, those original blinds are hideous! I LOVE your yellow and white pelmet – but maybe for a bit of change, why not make pelmets for the winter in the darker color – and then, in the summer, you can put the yellow and white back. That way, you can enjoy both year round!
I like the idea of going dark, it looks great though!
Great work!! I love it! I especially love all of the fun prints and what a bargain!
I love both of those patterns, but also think going dark would look good too! You did a great job!
Wow! I can tell you I wouldn’t have come up with as cute of an idea as you did. This looks fabulous!!! Great job! 🙂
That window doesn’t even look like the same window with your awesome drapes and pelmet box! I think if it’s an easy change, then do it. It’s fun to mix it up and I think it would look great.
You have outdone yourself! Looks fabulous.
that looks awesome. Jenny is amazing with the tutorials!
I have that tutorial saved for my girl’s window too….I think I’d like a different fabric on the pelmet. Right now they are fighting and neither is getting ther due.
Wow…you did a great job. I too would opt for a calmer print on one or the other. Both fabrics are beautiful…just fighting for attention.
I’m in a blue and white phase of my life (perhaps because it’s summer time in Australia) – I think a solid the same color as the stripes in the curtains with a beautiful contrasting trim would be nice…It looks really nice. I agree about the rod. It would have driven me mad too.
love your chevron stripe drapes! cute blog too…first time visitor and new follower…;)
I have used that tutorial before – and it turned out so great – and SO easy! I love your current pelmet box, but given your new curtains, I can understand why you are thinking it might be time for a change.
What a drastic change curtains and a pelmet box can do for those patio/deck doors! This is probably going to be my next project… oh, it will make my apt look and feel more home-y! My only problem is, the wall where the patio door is– it’s the “accent” wall and is painted Sherwin William’s “wheat penny.” I am not good with color coordinating– so what colors/fabrics would you suggest for the curtains and pelmet box? I have a buttery yellow sofa on an adjacent, white wall.
I love this – so clever.
What’d you decide to do with the fabric?
Is your pelmet made of foam core board…and where did you put the hardware to hang it?
this is exactly what i’m looking for my a new nursery that i’m doing. can you tell me where you got the fabric for both the curtains and the box? thank you!!
Your windows look gorgeous! I’ve got this linked to my pelmet boxes post too today, for inspiration!
