i finally finished my chair makeover.
it sure is harder than it looks.
i started this makeover about 4 months ago.
i quickly painted, removed the existing fabric, and began to re-upholster.
then i got frustrated, so i stopped.
the torn up chair sat in the corner of my living room piled high with fabric and batting.
it haunted me daily.
then my mom arrived and 3 hours later, it was DONE!
what a relief.

i still need to finish stuffing the seat and back cushion but i am SO excited to be almost done i couldn’t wait to share.
i am in love.
much better than a pile of fabric in the corner!
project cost:
chair – $15.00
main fabric -$9.00
back fabric- $12.00
white paint – free (already had)
batting – $3.00 (40% off coupon at joanns)
trim – $3.50 (40% off coupon at joanns)
total: $42.50

i am so excited about how the back turned out.
i love the unexpected pattern.

what do you think?
super cute — i need an upholstery teacher … he he.
Hopefully I’ll have a happy post like this soon (I’m venturing to do the couch!!)
Love this!
great job! I love the shape of the chair and it looks so fresh in white – love the fabric on the back – an nice surprise 🙂
LOVE, I have been so afraid to attempt this and just stare at craigslist longingly. I love the pillow too!
Love love love it! Sinead
um, love it! aren’t moms great…i have a cane back chair that i’m re doing too (actually two) and i can’t figure out how to get the darn seat cusion out, i think i have to pry it out. it was made so long ago when they did a really good job of constructing furniture 🙂
It looks soooo great! I love that you chose a different fabric for the back of the chair!
Very cute chair. I especially love the crisp white paint with the blue and the contrasting back fabric (I guess the whole thing!). I can’t tell you how happy I was to see I’m not the only one that sometimes takes longer than planned with their projects!! I also have a mom who rocks at stuff like that. I love it when she comes to town too.
Wow. This is SO GREAT! love it…want it 🙂 Great job!
Love this Danielle! So fun to see your work! I too love the fabric on the back! Great touch:)

Also love your living room with the new rug. You and I have different styles, but I can still totally appreciate yours!
Gorgeous transformation! Love the story, too. I have a wing back chair sitting in my living room in a partially undone state, right now. This might be the motivation I need to finish it off. Thanks for sharing.
