i must admit, my diy lampshade project is not going as well as planned.
i purchased the lamp shade for $2.00 at my local thrift store.
isn’t it pretty?
then i took the top layer accordion style fabric off.
super easy.
then i cut the old cover open and laid it flat to use as a template.
this is where things started to get complicated.
when i held the shade up with the white fabric you could see the yellow coming through, yuck!
back to the drawing board.
i need a fabric that isn’t as transparent, maybe something with more pattern?
i always go back to the chevron print.
apparently i am not alone.
check out this chevron lampshade makeover!

fabric.com has some great options for chevron fabric.
i can’t decide if i want a chevron print lampshade or throw pillows.
cushions direct sells chevron print pillows for $18.95 each!
check them out here!
what do you think?
I just redid one with burlap. It did NOT go well 🙁 I was pretty sad.
I think you should do the chevron print on the lampshade and a polka-dot fabric for your throw pillows! Just my opinion…
all the answers are with Chevron… it runs in the family 🙂
I’m loving the Chevron! And thanks for posting about a DIY that required some change of plans, it makes me feel good about some of my projects that took unexpected turns. I love your design blog by the way. I check it frequently and tell all my friends about it…all 3 of them 🙂
You will figure it out! Chevrons are happen’in! Wow, you only need a little though! Will be so amazing on the lampshade…a real statement!

LAMPSHADES. ACK! They have been my problem area for the last month. Its really hard to find decent onces. I have discovered in my search that I am pretty basic though, I like to stick to white/ivory/cream/light tan and only in the drum shape or SLIGHLY tapered shape. They are surprisingly hard to come by.
Gorgeous fabrics. You did very well with the lamp! Enjoy you lovely weekend, Kellie xx
