coxford condo

a couple nights ago i received an e-mail from a high school friend jill.
she regularly checks my design blog and needs some help sprucing up her condo.
she purchased her condo over a year ago.
soon after she bought some furniture.
sofa, chair, end tables, tv, lamps, and a couple throw pillows.
feeling broke and uninspired she quickly gave up.
don’t we all feel like that sometimes?
over a year has passed and her walls are SCREAMING for attention.
jill is hoping to make her condo feel more like a home.

her intentions were good, i think i see a picture leaning against the wall in the corner!
her back wall is in desperate need of some help.
there is quite a gap between the sofa and wall, she has never been able to figure out what to do with this space.
after a couple minutes on her local craigslist i found the perfect piece.
a dresser which we will re-purpose as a buffet table.
the perfect place to store linens.
The seller is asking $75.00 for both the dresser and the highboy.
I would offer $50.00.
what a steal.
I love the natural color of this wood, i recommend leaving it as is.
i think it will really help add some warmth to the room.
now what to place above it?
jill has mentioned several times that her father loves photography.
he takes beautiful shots and she would like to have a place to display them.
perfect.
these 16″ x 20″ ikea frames for $12.99 each are ideal.
i love hugging them close together, each piece holds its own but the overall composition is also stunning.
i picture it looking similar to this vogue wall art.

accessories are also needed on the new buffet table.
maybe a lamp like this?

on sale at pier one for only 29.98
or a west elm vase like this.

and some boxes like these.

the rest of her room could also use some attention.
she mentioned she loves the black and white ikea rug from one of my previous designs.
she has got great taste, i love it too.
her condo could use some pattern, i can picture it already.

speaking of pattern, it’s time to add some life to her sofas.
i think these throw pillows should do the trick.
i am drooling at all three of these.
perfectly graphic, feminine, and lovely.
i recommend buying 2 yellows, one floral (chaing mai dragon print), and 2 blue (chevron pattern).

check them out here and here and here.
the middle one is a splurge but i just couldn’t resist.
in order to save some $$ on the pillows i recommend sewing them yourselves.
jill, you up for a project?

here is another wall in her condo.
i might have just found the perfect mirror for above the chair.
$15.00 on her local craigslist, i want it!

her windows are also looking a little bare.
i think i would stick with simple white draperies.
this will help lighten up the space and not compete with the graphic rug.

i think that should do the trick.
total cost of makeover…$580.00, not bad.
can’t wait to see the results.

need your space re-designed?
i would love to help.
