Fabric Scraps

I am in need of some pillows for my sofa.
I even have the original pillows that came with the sofa still on it, ahhh!
I so badly want to go on Etsy, a.k.a “pillow crack”, and purchase 5 gorgeous new pillows.
My thrifty side says no…I sure hate that side sometimes.
I pulled out some of the leftover fabric scraps sitting in my closet.
Do you have a million scraps laying around too?
All I need is 20″ x 20″ pieces or smaller.
I plan on adding a solid color to the back so that my fabric can make more pillows.

I also want to learn how to sew a pillow with piping.
It has been on my to-do list for a while.
I am going to follow this tutorial.
Hopefully I can use my leftover scraps to make at least 3 of my pillows.
I also plan on purchasing a couple floral pillows, unless you have a scrap you want to swap?
A scrap swap, seems like such a good idea…

That is an amazing idea! I just finished making a couple of pillow covers for my spare bedroom and was looking through my scraps too. I feel like it’s a waste if I don’t use them!

I love your idea of using white fabric on the back, to make the beautiful scraps last longer! Great idea! I love the leftover fabrics you have to choose from! These will make fun pillows. 🙂

lol, pillow crack…that’s so true. Not only do I have a ton of scraps, I have at least three of the same fabrics sitting in my closet.

Those scraps look awesome! I am in the process of making some new pillows for my house too. Just a little tip (if you use a down insert)- make the finished pillow cover one inch smaller than the size pillow form you’re using. It looks so much better! Can’t wait to see the finished product!! Everything you diy looks great.

Laughing about the pillow crack as well! All over the solid backing. That is what I am doing in my living room as I can’t find more of the fabric anywhere. I am also making a lumbar pillow from a scrap for a chair we have as there isn’t enough for a 20 x 20!

I love all of your scraps! So pretty. What sorts of floral fabric do you want?

I have a basement full of stuff and I’m certain my husband would love me to free up some space in his man den.

Email me and let me know what colors you want and I will see if I have any!

Pretty fabrics! I have a huge scrap closet; some from me and some leftover from clients who don’t care for the 1/2 yard leftovers. I used that yellow lattice fabric in one of my spare bedrooms and am now on the hunt for a coordinate for a euro sham!

Hi Danielle, I just found your blog and wanted to say hi. Maybe you’ve already started on the pillows with piping, but I just got finished my first piping experience and found maybe great tutorials but this video was one of the best in helping me finish up the end-to-end technique. Its a life-saver that I didn’t try to cross the ends over because I’m sure that would have broken the machine 🙂
